If you have killed 177 out of 179 that is an amazing feat. I've never heard of anyone having a 99% success rate who has shot very many turkeys. That's miles better than Tom Kelly or any of the old time turkey hunters, as all that I have read wrote of losing turkeys. It's even more impressive that you've done it over a long career and only had those 2 failures.

I hope that there are sufficient witnesses to your success. Anyone on aldeer who could confirm it? Is there anyone here who knows you?

I guess I really suck then. I’ve killed 6 turkeys in my life. 4 in Texas and 2 in Alabama. That’s the good part. The bad part is I’ve missed 4 in Alabama. Fortunately I was so shook up that none of them were even remotely close to being injured. Sights wouldn’t have helped those screw ups.

I know folks who have kilt that many turkeys…my daddy was rough onem an so was my pawpaw..but my brother…aggervatin as he is…has killed a buncha turkeys…ive killed quiet a few…but not many as my brother..ive missed more than anybody I know..the turkey jinx was on me from birth…i probly missed 10 turkeys before i finally killed one..an it was another several years before i finally killed another one an i think i missed 4 more in that span of time. Never in my life did i imagine it was the guns i was usin..i just thought it was me..til we sit down an started patternin guns..ever gun i used shot crooked..so i put me a little 1x24 scope on my 870…i began to lay waste after that..i have since went to the red dot an i hadnt missed a turkey since…missin them does something to your brain..it aint good for you.

We watch a lot of cartoons at my house when the grandchildren are visiting and that led us to a discussion with one of my son in laws about which cartoon character was the most invincible. He asked who would win a fight between Superman and Commander McBragg. I told him that nobody would ever even have a chance against Commander McBragg - he was in full control of the narrative and it was impossible to beat him.

Now I am not saying that Buckwheat is like the Commander, but he does seem to have control of the narrative if nobody else on aldeer is willing to vouch for him. I like a lot of Buckwheat's posts over the last couple of years. He is probably the only poster here who would admit to things like blasting geese with lead dove loads on a dove shoot, or even knocking one out of the sky with a 243. That doesn't sound like stuff somebody would make up. He has hunting stories from several places around the state, so there oughta be folks on aldeer who know him.

Here's an episode of the Commander for anyone not familiar with him.

Buckwheat, you oughta meet some of the folks here. It adds to the enjoyment of the site if you know some of them. We are all probably gonna be sharing a prison cell once the 3 letter agencies decide to round us up. smile

If you are ever driving through Coosa county, holler at me. We can shoot some clay birds on my redneck range and you will have someone who can vouch for the lethality of your A5.

I’ve missed a pile and have watched folks miss a bunch. I’ll miss them if they’re too close, I’ve been shooting them across the back of their feathers/neck for about the last 10 years or so. They are sol if they can’t fly away from me I’ll run them down

If anyone believes all guns shoot where their bead/rib points, they haven’t even shot shotguns enough to be taken seriously.

Any decent gunsmith can correct the point of impact by slightly bending the barrel.....they've done it for years. One of my model 12's was off about a foot....wrapped the barrel with a towel.....put in vice....bent it slightly. Shot it and was still off about 6". Put it back in the vice,bent.....shot it.....dead on target. A double or over/under is a little more technical.

LOL….Browning at least straightened theirs at the factory….Beretta passed that task on to the customer. 😜

Sure, you can straighten all sort of barrels and ribs….but sometimes you have chokes/muzzles cut crooked, so you’re just chasing your tail.

I’ve killed them with no bead, single bead, double bead, rifle sights, add on beads, etc. nothing against GOOD dot sights, but a bushnell failed on me the first season I tried to like a dot. Not afraid to use one again. I’ll just try to use a better sight. Not afraid to use a single bead, wood stock, or folding AR stocked gun….do whatever you want and works…..but most shotguns these days never leave a factory with POA vs POI tested, so you can be the test monkey however you want on that possibility.

Like Iv told buckwheat before . “Don’t let the truth interfere with a good story, it’s your story to tell it how you want to.”
I had forgotten about him blasting geese out of the sky with a deer rifle .
