Anybody built their own complete saddle system? I was pricing some on tethrd website and it seems extremely expensive for the material. Never saddle hunted nor looked into it. I've got a pimped out molle2 setup on my titan climber so I'm looking to build me own setup.
I like the madrock safeguard tensioner tethrd has, surely it's got a generic name and can be ordered. Im sure sources for good rope are online, I can tie knots with the best of them. Just trying to save some money
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

The madrock safeguard is a device that can be ordered from all sorts of places. It’s about $100 and is not totally necessary, but popular among the one stick crowd for rappelling. Plenty of do it yourself styles out there as far as saddles, so an internet search to figure out what you want to do. I one stick with a jx3 and rappel with a figure 8. It does all I need it to do, and I’m literally hunting in a lazy boy. People complain about the jx3 and limited movement, but I use it like any other saddle and will stand up to shoot my bow. No issues. I’m sure some others like coosa can give you more info on saddle hunting than I can. I would be interested to see what you come up with.

I started out with a tethrd kit then went to a setup that I pieced together myself (kinda). I’ve got a latitude method saddle, EWO ultimate one stick, ordered some Sterling HTP rope to cut up and make a 40’ rappel line and two lineman’s belts, and use a madrock safeguard to descend with. Also made myself a pretty slick bow/gear hanger out of a piece of daisy chain webbing, a cam jam tensioner, and some S biners.

If you read on saddlehunter dot com, you can find days of reading about building a saddle. Might find something used well within budget and not have to build it.

Coosa, you’re not ascending with the madrock also? This will be my first year one sticking and using my lineman belt while ascending with a safeguard is the only item I haven’t figured out for me yet.

I climb up with the madrock attached to my rappel line using it like a tether/advancing the rope up the tree and then descend with the madrock. I stay hooked into the madrock and rappel line from the time my feet leave the ground until I get back down.

Just trying to save some money Tethrd has a great veterans discount if you are prior military. Also, they have good sales throughout the year if you sign up for their emails.

That’s how the cowboys hunted. True Indians always hunted bareback though.
