Well, I can't understand why they don't report it, if they have a license and the app, it don't get much easier. Personally I'm not a big fan of GC, and I've also had issues with the app (mostly Android related problems) but I've not had any trouble with the reporting. Last year I reported one before I even got out my stand.

So what now?? Are we gonna start using the data with a 20-40% compliance or is the state gonna try to have a heavier hand with enforcement of GC? The latter seems like a tough, uphill battle.

Still check people who claim they are unaware of some or all of the requirements of harvest record/gamecheck People need to keep up with the darn regs then. It doesnt take much time or effort. Though I may not like it is better then driving around in TN trying to find a place open to give me a number on Thanksgiving morning. Or in New England driving them into a town or city to a check station having them weighed etc. Simple as making a call to a system or using an app on the phone. Folks need to do it or soon we will be checking them in which is a hassle and waste of time.

We just gotta tighten up and shoot more does. I'm sure it's down by 23% cause alabama hunters have gotten too lazy to shoot deer. Yeah, that's gotta be it.

I could kill a train load of deer every season but I just don't like to work that hard. Me either, I got some boy that love killing stuff, so I let them do it. But thinking about it could it actually be hunters just don't kill as many. On my place we have 6 of us that have hunted together for 20+ years. 15 years ago all 6 of us would shoot anything with 8 points. In the last 3 years, the 6 of us have probably on killed 10 bucks. Not because of not seeing anything, we are just more selective about what we shoot. Could that actually be some of the decline? There's 3-4 deer we have on camera this year that I know I would shoot. If I don't see them unless it's just some random buck that comes through I won't kill a buck.

I think we should have to post our GC confirmation# when we post a deer on the deer contest. My opinion on that is the same as requiring processors to collect the information. Enforcement is not our responsibility.

Enforcement is not our responsibility. I 99% agree with you. With the 1% being at our club it is required to hunt legally and reporting is part of that legality. So it is a requirement at our club. That's not really enforcing though.

I have a fella in my circle of acquaintance, not really a close friend, who has skirted the 3 buck limit since it started. He would kill 10-15 bucks a year before the 3 buck limit and has continued to do so for many years after the limit was implemented.
I know for a fact he is not checking all these bucks in. He can only check in 3 bucks and after that he'd get nailed by the system. I would dare say that he probably isn't checking any of them in.
I mention this example to say that I think GC compliance is way low. I believe there are many more deer being killed than is being reported. The guy I mentioned above is just one guy, that I happen to know. What about that one guy that all of you know who is doing something similar? It could add up to a lot of unreported deer.
Then I think there are those folks out there who just don't like GC and refuse to use it. They won't use it just to be able to say the "State" ain't gonna tell me what to do.
Yep, I think it's a flawed/skewed system and I don't know if we'll ever see any more compliance than current.

IMO if you didn't check it you poached it. Killed a 4th buck? That buck is poached, you did not have a license to shoot that deer. Go out west and kill something you don't have a license for and see what happens... ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/IMj6RAU.jpg)

How did we grow a herd so large in the past that the state felt like we all needed to start a wholesale slaughter of does in order to get in back under control? How did we do that with without GC and the threat of life in prison to reign in all of the “outlaws” of this state?

The numbers are what they are for a variety of reasons......some areas just don't have nearly as many deer anymore, some hunters have grown more selective and some are just outlaws that refuse to obey the law. The State just needs to enforce the GC regulation and start setting up the bag limits from the numbers they have. People would probably start taking it serious then
