Y'all need to go try the First ramp on pickwick just below the dam . Current is horrible then add wind. Makes for a very long day. The rockpile?
We will burn that bridge when we get there

I don't know what they called it. I believe it is closed now. It was a single ramp and sucked. When they had the turbine going the current would roll rocks on the ramp so you would have to move them before putting in. I was 11 or 12 the last time I put in there. Dad found someone to drive the truck and trailer to McFarland to get us out. He would get the boat on the trailer and the current would push the trailer around and unload the boat.

Worst launch in the south is on the Mississippi River between Buras and Venice. The river currents are STRONG.

Had some fun and some not so fun times loading and unloading a boat when I was younger. You never knew the water level or condition of the ramp in some places we went. I learn why trailers come with winches.

I've been there. I launched at the south side ramp below the Dam on Guntersville 10 or so years ago. They had a few flood gates open and when we came back to load there was a stiff east wind blowing. At one time thatlittle 14 foot aluminum boat I was in, got plum sideways on the trailer.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

At one time thatlittle 14 foot aluminum boat I was in, got plum sideways on the trailer. That's a tough spot when several gates are open. There is usually a wind opposite of the current that doesn't help either. You just have to hit it from downstream and cut the boat onto the trailer at the last minute. That's when you hope the wind's effect on the boat is less than the current's effect.
