Pines are highly acidic, so lime is in order, and lots of it. Don't waste your time on fertilizer, until you get your ph right. The plants wont take up the nutrients until the ph is right. It's like trying to get your chlorine right in your pool, when your ph aint right. After that go with cereal rye/crimson clover.
Right on the money... I would definitely top sew with turnips though... I wouldn't get within 10 miles of my food plots with rye grass...
