We have these wild magnolias by the thousands around my place on the creek, but most people that come comment that they've never seen them before. I was just wondering how common these trees are in Alabama?

Can't tell much by the pic. They look like big leaf magnolias. If they are big leaf magnolias, they are very common.

Sure do, leaves look like some kind of Chestnut Oak, Chinkapin etc. to me. I have Magnolias in my yard, they have very large, thick, waxy leaves. Of course they aren't wild ones.

If they are what I'm thinking they are pretty common in low areas near springs and creeks.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Get us some more info, haven't a clue what has a leaf 2 foot long. Maybe a Cucumber, Sweet Bay, Swamp Bay. But 2 foot is big for all those I think.
If it's a magnolia, I bet it's a Bigleaf or Umbrella Magnolia. I know nothin' about those, haven't seen them up here Hillbilly land.

Those are bigleaf magnolias. They flourish in isolated pockets. They are very common on Bankhead. I've measured a few leaves over 36".
