Go in there right now with a little hand shovel and a quart ziplock bag. Survey the area you plan on putting the plot, in about 5 areas on the planned plot, scratch off the top layer of straw, leaves, etc. then dig down about 4-6", and put a handful of dirt in the bag. Send it off to Auburn and in about a week or less you will get an email on what you need to put in the soil for what plant you tell em you are planting. It has worked for me
