Just curious as I've never bought out of state other than farm auctions.

I threw mine in the trash and never heard anything else about it.

I wouldn't be so lucky...... I would be audited for the next twenty years had I done that....

PCP - I bought my 2006 500 Foreman ES in 2007 from Southern in Chattanooga for $4685 OTD. Everybody around here wanted $6000 plus so it was well worth the drive.

Definitely worth the drive to save that much! I just had a salesman from Southern to call me with a price. It was a good price, but not enough to save that kind of money. Its actually closer for me to drive to Chattanooga than Mobile, and its a lot closer than Corinth. And a really good thing is he said they have a place I can test drive to see if I want to pay for the EPS or not. I expect I'll end up going there to buy.

Thanks for all the replies.

Welllllllll....years ago I bought a Yamaha in Mississippi and paid no Alabama tax. A couple of years went by and the place got raided by the feds. I got a bill for 198 dollars from the State wanting tax for the 4 wheeler I bought. I sent them a check.....

That's what everybody seems to say. Looks like I'm gonna wind up with one that has every option if I keep reading. smile

For any who might be interested, the price from the guy in TN was $102 less than the place in MS. Both of them gave me drive-it-away prices with no hidden costs. I have't seen that anywhere in AL yet.

Same think happened to me after I bought mine in Chattanooga. it was about three years later and got a tax bill from Alabama tax Dept for taxes due of about $125. Had it checked out made a few phone calls and was told it was legitimate. Sent in a check.

Looks like I bothered all you guys for nothing. Not to mention several dealers. Guy just called me and was able to fix the Timberwolf for a reasonable price, so I guess I will keep running it for now.

It may last longer than I will, but if it doesn't, and I have to buy another one soon, I'll go to the place in Chattanooga and get a Honda Rancher. On paper, its just a better machine than the new Yamaha. Double clutch transmission with gears instead of a belt, and EFI instead of a carburetor, and price about the same. I was gonna go up there and test drive one with power steering and then decide if I wanted to pay for it or not.

Thanks to all for the help. There just is nothing made now in the way of a really light 4x4 in the class of the old Timberwolf.

I bought my 2012 honda foreman 500 from southern and they gave me a really good deal. I have the power steering and it's worth every penny especially in these steep rocky Mountains in Jackson county. If u do end up going to get one ask them about giving you $1 off per mile you drive. I did and they honored it.
