I don't shop for guns in those big box stores places. I was in Academy on 280 once and asked to see a rifle. The guy dropped it twice, I believe, before handing it to me and once more before putting it up. He acted like nothing happened.

Go to Marks. They will help you. HA! I quit shopping there years ago because of their "customer service". Their gun repair guy really pissed me off by treating me like a complete DA. Took a pistol in for warranty repair from S&W since they are a certified repair shop. Guy wont even look at the pistol and tells me I just need to go home and clean it really well! Turned out that I was not stupid and the extractor had broken. Returned to S&W at their cost and got all new internals! Havent spent a dime in there since!

Went to buy a Night vision monocular at one of them places..The dude grabbed it and went to take the lens cap off..I said hey hey you don't see the big sticker that says don't remove in light?..He said oh never paid attention to that before! I said no thanks

ive had marks try to repair a bow and try to mount a scope before, they failed at both. i take my business elsewhere. i went to the new gander mountain in gadsden the other day and asked the guy behind the gun counter if they had one of the new a5's in and he got a perplexed look on his face and asked "benelli makes that dont they?" i said hold on a minute, you work the gun counter and you dont know what an a5 is? he said well im kinda new and in training. i said my wife doesnt hunt or shoot guns but can tell you that browning makes the a5. another guy chuckled and walked off. these places hire any numbskull that walks in the door but they rarely hire anyone who knows their ass from a hole in the ground.

Y'all keep saying that they won't hire anyone that knows their stuff to work in some of these places but i haven't heard where none of y'all that do know your stuff say you have applied to work there.

Prattville actually has a couple that are pretty knowledgeable at the Academy and BPS.

I once saw a pimpeled face boy do a 4473 form for a guy on a pistol for a guy, he had lots of trouble with the call in. He turned and said" sir your denied". The guy in front of me went crazy= beserk! He was an active LEO for the county. Boy type in or read something wrong. Several People were delayed that day. I dont know what he was doing wrong, but he looked lost! I went home without trying to get the gun i wanted. Academy can sux sometimes!

How about my buddy that applied for a part time position in the fishing section at basspro? He's a fireman and fishes 2 tournaments a week and majored in aquaculture in college. 2 years he tried to get a job there and never got a call and put in several applications. But they will hire someone that can't tell a circle hook from a j hook.
