Any of yall use a Go Pro Camera set up for your Bow or Rifle?

I thought about getting one to film some hunts with, until I watched some hunts filmed with them. They leave alot to be desired.

I have used mine hog hunting wearing it on my head. It doesn't work well at longer ranges but inside bow range it is awesome. My last hunt I shot a coyote and it ran straight to me within 5 foot and I had forgotten to turn it on. It would have been really cool. I was sick.

No good for deer hunting

Yup. I was all for getting one until I seen footage from one of them....

They are wide angle cameras with no zoom. That means their best footage is taken at very close ranges. Secondly, the waterproof housing makes for less than ideal sound quality. That's why most GoPro videos have music edited into them.

They are good to have focused on you while your real camera is pointed at the action.

Good for less than 30yds with bow. You get a little better quality playing with the settings. Other than that, you'll have to zoom while editing. I do like mine waterfowl hunting. They are also good to shoot short clips and clip into photos, great quality there. The thing to ask is are you going to have time with any camera to set up and zoom during a hunt?? If so, buy a cam with the zoom feature.

I've got one set up on my bow. It works great. I do wish they had a zoom though. I got a nice 8 point last year while using it. Great memory for me. Try one for bow hunting you'll enjoy it.

my wife bought me one with the remote for father's day. Before I open it I'd like to view some footage and decide if it's worth keeping. Any ideas?

I looked at some youtube videos. Maybe you can find your model on there that someone has made a film with. I didn't like the hunting videos that I saw. Even the bow hunts they had to highlight, so you could tell where the deer was. I've seen sky diving videos and other videos where a zoom doesn't matter look real good. I think it boils down to what you are gonna do with it.

I've got the newest Hero 3 "black edition"...supposed to have better battery life, pick up sound better, sharper images, etc. I'll try to find on youtube. I'd be using mine mostly for bow hunting and turkey hunting.
