Bama also hadn't just won a National Championship 2 years prior to 2008. They also hadn't had top-10 recruiting classes for the last 5 years when Saban went undefeated in 2008. They had gone 16 years without a championship and were coming off a season where they didn't have a single player drafted into the NFL. It really bothers you bad for such an inferior, insignificant team to kick Bama's butt on a regular basis...AND IT SHOWS!!!

All the stats dont mean anything if in the end you dont win the game. may not like it but bama got its ass kicked by ou and auburn got its ass kicked by fsu and no one on here can post stats to prove other wise. the score at the end of the game is the only stat that matters.and we both lost get over it and move on this year is going to be fun to watch for sure. Huh??? WTH?!?!?!?!? AU got its ass kicked? By FSU? You're kidding me. I agree, the scoreboard is what matters in the end, yes. I will say that AU "LOST" the game. You say, "Got its ass kicked"? Absolutely NOT! See, that's where you lose me when trashy school yard comments like that come into play. The Bama bias "by some of you" (not all) is so delusional where it's hard to have a decent conversation about the two teams. I'd just like to have discussions regarding sports... Auburn and Alabama, SEC, etc... without childish statements like "Auburn got its ass kicked by FSU!" Just make unbiased judgements. I can say that Bama beat the hell out of ND! That's just the way it was. I pulled for ND but Bama won... big time on the scoreboard and stats. Didn't like it but I can admit it. There is NOT a fair-minded, legitimate sports columnist in the United States that would agree with even suggesting that Auburn "got its ass kicked" by FSU. Football and Sports Talk should be changed to Trash Talk Sports! I wasted my time here.

If that was the case as many have said then auburn certainly got its ass kicked by fsu. So the school yard comments go both ways. There is no way to argue or prove a point with some auburn or bama fans, so just enjoy the game.

In reguards to claiming NCs Bama and Barn both claim too many IMO. Go to the NCAA web site and see how many they reconize...Neither should claim more than are reconized by the NCAA. If The Opelika Times or Po Dunk Post says they won the NC who gives a chit.
According to the NCAA Bama has won 13.
25,26,30,61,64,65,73,78,79,92,09,11,12.
The Barn has 2.
57 and 10.
To claim more by either school is stupid!!!

The difference is Bama went UNDEFEATED in the regular season. They looked dominant and did it mainly with freshman like Mark Ingram and Julio Jones. And they didn't lose the national championship game Sorry bud but you can't have it both ways

Comeback? You have never had anything worth responding to. If you are gonna fuss at a bama fan you have to make sure you have all spelling and math calculations correct. Bama fans learned from burbank that once you dont have a comeback for something you attack spelling, punctuation, math or whatever you can find to change the focus of the subject.

The only reason Auburn fans are mad at Phil is because they know he is right. That, and it chaps their ass to come so close after so many lucky plays only to have it snatched away from them at the last "second". It is truly hilarious and so ironic.
And YES, last season was lucky as hell for Auburn. It wasn't just the lucky play against Alabama. It was an even luckier play against Georgia and let's not forget the last second win against the mighty Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Stop pretending that you have built some kind of powerhouse. When you actually build a PROGRAM, I'll listen to you. But Auburn has always been and will always be built around individual players and a rabbit's foot. And deep down, you know it.
Let us know when you win 3 National Championships in 4 years. Let us know when you win an Iron Bowl 49-0. Let us know when you BLOW OUT your competition in a National Championship game. Let us know when you sign a #1 ranked class. Let us know when you are the most feared team in the country. Until then, you remain the little brother in this state grasping at straws to compete with your big brother and you know it. And yes, it pisses you off. Guess you shoulda been a Bama fan.

I won't even go there but you're condemning Auburn in your post? Where's your head been? Alabama did not, NOR THE NCAA, in 1983, recognize NC of 25, 26 & 30. The NCAA didn't come to Alabama and say, "Hey, y'all need to recognize X years as NC!!" Alabama, first took the initiative to claim those years and they provided evidence of organizations/entities/etc... that endorsed Alabama as NC that year. Was it wrong in your eyes when Alabama took that initiative? Well, of course not... not in your eyes. Is it wrong for Auburn to take the "same" initiative just like Alabama did several years ago to claim additional titles? Well, certainly it is. The hypocrisy! There are several years that the "today's" NCAA recognizes more than one NC in a given year AND, here's the big news for you... just like Alabama, more schools are coming forth WITH THE SAME CRITERIA that Alabama used in claiming that they were NC in X years. Alabama petitioned the NCAA and demonstrated that "these" or "this" entities or entity endorsed us as NC in "these" years. But really, there is no official standard because there was no "official" national champion before the BCS. So with the same criteria as what Alabama used, Auburn is doing the same and the website guru guy for the NCAA's website will add Auburn to whatever years. Teams all over the country are adding titles... just like Alabama did. Check back with the NCAA's website in three/five years and see who has been added as "NC" for whatever year. What's fair for one is fair for all. IMO. Maybe not yours.

It's no different than UA claiming titles in which a certain entity recognized UA as NC way back then. There were entities or entity that recognized AU as NC in those years you're talking about.
For years, there was no recognized "final word" on NC.. AP and UPI voted and if you'll remember when UA and USC split the unofficial NC and it was which poll a person wanted to recognize. And, you also had other polls such as NY Times, Coaches, etc... It was all subjective and a mess until the BCS formed and that wasn't perfect either and now we have the four team playoff.
AU is not the only team considering retro-claiming NC. Am I in favor of claiming retro NC? Not sure. I need to look at it more but there is no difference than what UA did several years ago and what AU may do today.

Droptine, were you one of the UA fans that this time last year, you would have laughed if an AU fan would have suggested a close game between AU & UA? According to most UA fans, "luck" would never be a factor in the 2013 Iron Bowl. It wasn't luck. It was, as exemplified the entire game, superior coaching and playing your ass off by AU. AU stuffed UA when it needed to and actually, the game could have gone either way. UA couldn't get a yard when it needed to! With the best back and best OL in America?
Did the most "talented" team win last year? Absolutely not. Did the best team win? Yes, I think so. Also, the best coached team won, which I know really hurts down deep.
Was it luck when Alabama had to come from behind in Auburn in what, 2009 or 2007 to beat AU? No, UA drove the ball down field and did what it needed to do to win the game at the end of the 4th qtr. I'm just not so delusional to call it luck at the end of that game.
