Gonna add a little something, 6 month olds are the quickest age class to replace. There will be a new crop of fawns born next summer and roughly half will be bucks. Folks get bent out of shape if a couple of buck fawns are shot. They protect them and then shoot the hell out of them at 2.5-3.5. The older the age class, the longer it takes to replace them. I used to get bent outta shape when a button head was shot, then I started looking at the big picture. Sure it would be fine if none are shot but I ain't loosing any sleep if a couple are shot in good faith off our place. Now those pretty little 8 and 10 pt 2.5 YOs , we gonna have a serious talk.
It's dumb IMO to make a major deal out of shooting a button head by mistake every now and then, only to blast them before they are ripe later.
