I bought a couple of shooting houses from a fellow member here. I want them up about 8' in the air on 4x4s. I can't do the modular thing since they're pre-built.

Do I try to build a platform and then get the house up there with a front end loader?

Put the 4x4s on and try and winch the whole thing up?

I'd like to sink the 4x4s in concrete about 1-2' deep.

Let's hear it from y'all practical engineers.

If you have a tractor with a loader easy as pie.

Can you get a tractor to your spot? If so, easy peasy. If not, place them by a tree you can come-along up. Best thing to do is buy a bunch of beer, ice it down, and call the buddies.

I've done combination winch and loader but I dang near pulled the stand apart. I may do it again though, not much other choice.

Set it on tractor forks. Ratchet strap it on the forks horizontally around the house. This will keep it from falling off and crushing someone. Have post already pre set and posts level. Set the shooting house on top of four posts and lag bolt them on. Don't take strap completely off til lags are in and tight. Have set many like this. You need to brace posts off before turning house loose from forks. Cross brace the legs on the shooting house. Attach ladder separately. Steel of course Lag bolt ladder to house and burry about a foot of ladder in ground. This will also serve as a brace.

This will work if you want to have the legs pre-set. Make sure they are plumb and level and the whole thing is square. You could put a 2 by band around 3 sides and let it stick up a couple of inches. A pocket if you will, then set the house in it and add the fourth side after you move the tractor. Just don't build it too tight of course. Good cross bracing is a must on the legs. I've done and seen them done many ways, but a loader is yer friend, work safely.

We use a skid steer with forks to pick ours up and walk to trailer or to put in place.

We just cleared a flat area and set the 4x4s on top of the ground. Then we drove steel posts beside the legs and attached. They have withstood some heavy wind. The houses were 6x6

We just pick ours up and put them on the platform by hand. Of course, ours are plastic.

If the legs are attached it only takes three people to erect a shooting house like you are talking about. You need a piece of steel pipe 2"x10' and the below piece made and welded in the end of the piece of pipe, three eye bolts, a poly rope block and tackle and some guide rope.

I drew this up to show you how I have done it in the past, I will be putting up a 30' tower like this, this year.

thumbup 300gr Nothin' to it.

If it has the legs on it like in Swampy's pic, leave the top on the trailer so it's already 2-3 ft off the ground. Drag it to where the legs are hanging well off the trailer. I've seen what Swampy drew done on finished ones, pulled up with a loader. Hook the rope or chain to the loader and raise it high, ease backwards. Loader good.

Thanks swampy. I like the idea of making the holes sloped. Never thought about that before and looks very helpful.

I would dig the holes and then use frontend loader to stand it up then mix up cement and pour in holes.

A 30 foot tower is going to be a job. I hope your legs are made out of something strong.
