If you don't love it don't watch it. I have a passion for it myself. Daughter plays high school softball and you don't have to wait 5 min. between every pitch and its fast play ball. I tried hitting from our starting pitcher only ONCE. 65 mph at 43 ft. Yes males are stronger and faster than females because that's the way God made them. But that doesn't make them better athletes. IMO Males aren't better athletes?.Are you kidding? You really think you couldn't take a good male athlete and put him in any sport and he wouldn't be the best player, by far, on the field or court? I don't doubt those girls are good but they can't compete against males with any success.

Males are definitely better athletes. Really not even debatable.

I agree that the best male athletes will out perform the best female athletes. But, that is not the point.
I don't watch any other female sport. But, college softball is a fun sport to watch. As others have said, it is very fast paced and they are great athletes.
I love baseball. I always ask my teams, "You know what I love about baseball?" "Everything!"
But, I have to admit, I watch as much softball as I do college baseball simply because of the pace of play.

and very few are on a full ride Every one of those girls are on full ride scholarships, thanks to Title IX. That's where you are under informed...been at the Recruiting BS 2 yrs now...NCAA ALLOWS up to 12 Scholarships...does NOT mean the school has or gives the Coach that money...ONLY kids you see on a full ride are the 70mph pitchers...Most of the scholarships that I know the #s on are in the 50% range...Know one kid getting a 25% athletic and 75% academic...and tell ya another thing ...In most cases the %'s pertain to either tuition or room and board...usually not both...Ex:...FL offers my 50% tuition...as non resident...R&B is on me...Non resident tuition at FL is $20K...resident is $5K... Trust me when I say...MOST of those kids are not on an athletic full ride... And honestly...most parents lie about what their kids got... And exactly...whats the problem with Title 9? Bill...Men are better athletes?...NO shucks....God made men that way...bigger, faster, stronger...Lets see you have a baby 9 months in your uterus... Good athletes vs good Fastitch pitchers...?...Ask Barry Bonds...he refused to bat against Lisa Fernandez...after she struck out like 5 of his buddies...

I never said they are on full ride ATHLETIC scholarships. I made it very clear that they can also qualify for academic scholarships which do not count against athletic schollies due to softball being an equivalency sport. Oh, and I doubt Jordan Patterson is on scholarship. Her mother and father make a pretty good buck together, and I believe she gets half price tuition due to them working for the university (might be wrong about that, though...it used to be that way).

SFC, are you saying a male, with a few days practice, couldn't hit a girls pitching as well as another girl could? I don't doubt Bonds refused. Stepping in without ever practicing against it would be tough, male or female. You let Bonds, even now that he is old and out of shape, see a couple hundred pitches and from there on out he'd be launching them out of those tiny parks the girls play in.

So...theyre smart AND can play ball...unlike some of the dumbasses Ive seen play College Football...on a full ride plus some bennies...My oldest got a full academic ride ...Google worst softball player ever...probably has her picture. I know Jojo..Whats your point?...if she does get a break because her mom and dad work there...Pretty good buck?...Comparable to Saban? If they had a son who could play football...would he not get same benefit...or in baseball?
Bill could they eventually catch up with the girls pitching? Im sure they could...Theyre millionaire athletes...I would HOPE they would...ITS THE WOMENS WCWS...not the Boys vs girls WCWS btw...it is what it is...and its damned hard...
But theres is a game called MENS fastpitch...95+ mph pitching is the norm...saw a gy throwing 96 from 2nd base...mens arms are stronger in case you forgot...from 43ft which is actually way closer to 35 ft at release and on a flat surface vs baseball where the ball is always going down...not up like a riseball...Do I think ANY pro baseball player would have a 1.000 batting avg against a MALE FP pitcher...not in a 100 years...
And ALL Title 9 does is makes a school give girls an equal in the quality of facilities, not dollar for dollar...If you're one of the men who think girls shouldn't be allowed the same opportunities 'in kind' as boys then don't watch the *&^%$# game...But a LOT of us do have young ladies who bust their arses and want to play ball...a LOT more than you think...I WANT mine to be successful...not barefoot, pregnant and back at the singlewide...

Bill...the truth shall set you free
This is one of the few sports that has the same field or court
basketball free throw % 2009 Div. I Men Average - 69.1% Div. I Women Average - 68.78%
All-Time Best Div. 1 Men: Team Average %-- Individual Career--Blake Ahearn, Missouri St. 2007 94.6%
All-Time Top Div. 1 Women: Team Average-- Individual Career--Adrienne Squire, Penn St. 2006 96.4

What's my point? Exactly what I said. Jordan's probably not on scholarship due to her parents being able to pay her own way, and that I think she gets half price tuition due to the fact that her parents work for the university. Not sure where you're trying to go with the rest of it....ie Saban.

So you're arguing women could compete head to head with men ? I honestly can't even believe any of you are trying to make that case. SFC, don't blow a gasket, man. I'm sure your daughter, as well as many others, are great players and dedicated to their sport. That was never the point. I'm really struggling to believe that any of you really think women can compete head to head if they are both given a fair shot.

Bill, I don't think anyone has said that men are not better. You act like just because men are better there is no reason to watch women's softball. I watch high school sports, even though professionals are better. Doesn't mean the competition isn't great and the games fun to watch. A man being better at it has nothing to do with watching it.

So...she may or may not be on a scholarship...Some off tuition cause they work at AL...works the same if you mow grass there...as a school employee that is...I dont have any problem with that. Statement you made about they make 'bucks'...well I don't imagine they work there for free...and I'll bet you my house they don't make anything even close to what another college employee makes...Darth Saban... At Univ of Southern MS...and it may have changed...employees get free tuition...Buddy of mines kid...he works in ROTC there...Kid got free tuition. Did you know Native Americans usually have their full tuition paid by the National Native American bunch?
Tell ya another sweet detail about the football / baseball and even every other sport...kids still do a FAFSA for Federal money...as in PELL grant, as in more taxpayer freebie money...That is if Mom and Dad don't make more than like $10K a year and have a posse of kids...even if they do get a full meal deal... My point is..who cares how they pay for school? I promise to you they have to make grades etc...One gal from one of the teams had to take a test yesterday morning before she played...
No Bill...I aint blowing anything...women are not as fast or as strong...nor do men have ovaries and women dont have peckers... Youre comparing sexes, not me...Male Bass are smaller than females...so are most fish...Humans, males are bigger and stronger...and die earlier. Do I think ANY male can out perform ANY female?...Oh hell no..Look up womens worlds records in weigh lifting...I know PLENTY of men who cant compete...but no woman can out lift lets say a participant in the Worlds Strongest mans contest...but I bet his Mom can still beat his ass...It wont kill you to watch them play, or even hurt one bit...or dont, its up to you...its THEIR sport...

I understand. I kind of got off kilter when someone suggested women were just as good athletes as men. It's probably like I used to think about hockey. I thought it was boring and slow until I went to a game. After seeing the speed and how physical it was played it became one of my favorite to watch. I'll have to give it a shot, although I can't even sit through a baseball game these days.

Only thing I can figure is they think their wives may read this. When you have resorted to FT% as your example of athletic prowess you have said all you need to say really.

Bill succeeded in doing just what he started to do, derail any kind of positive thread about Alabama athletics. Ya'll need to stop feeding the troll. Read back thru the entire thread. The thread should have been in the sports forum, but that doesn't matter.
