JWC, from what I read they went in the cabin while morrow waited at the gate. Still don't see any proof though and should not have even made it to a court room. This is the kind of thing that should scare each and every one of you because there was no proof that these guys did anything wrong except that a man heard a gunshot or what he says was a gunshot in the dark 150 yards away and says it came from that vehicle. Then there is further no evidence of spent casings, no live ammo observed in the vehicle at the time or evidence the weapon had been recently fired, nor did he see a muzzle flash. It is my suspicion the boys did fire off a couple of rounds but you need a lot more than that for a conviction or at least should.

Not enough evidence for a conviction. Fines , penalties way too excessive. Total BS!

This should be a lesson to all the people that want to march convicted killers strait to the gallos. Innocent people can be convicted based upon very little or circumstantial evidence.

I read the entire thing and I believe those three young men were railroaded pure and simple. The idiot woman judge doesn't know diddly squat about guns, hunting or even where her ass is. She was probably surfing on Pintrest while everyone was testifying. I'd fight that ruling till I got it changed or I ran out of money.

I just read all of it. I personally think it is BS, finding them guilty, sounds to me like some dirty ole buddy, ole pal crap, between sheriff, deputy's, and ex-Game warden. I would be highly pissed. I promise you If I done the same thing at my place with someone off suspicion, I would get laughed at for even calling police. It wasn't any of that lawyer business what, they had done the day before or was going to do the day after. I say it BS and it pissed me off just reading it.. X2, makes me furious. So let's just say they did take a random shot out of the truck, How is that considered hunting?

Wow. I just read it. That is horrible. I don't even know who is to blame. I'd start with the judge. The lack of evidence is overwhelming. I also don't like when the prosecutor keeps asking why he needs to carry a gun. Who gives a damn. He said, I want it for protection. Prosecutor asks, have you ever been assaulted before in lowndes county. What difference does that make? Do I need to be assaulted before I'm allowed to carry a gun.
This whole thing is pure BS. Burden of proof is on the state. I hope someone doesn't accuse me of shooting in lowndes county. Because chances are, I'll have a gun in my truck and no way to prove I didn't.

after reading that, I see that I need to be more cautious when I'm doing business in Lowndes County.

I think that the judge had already sided with the ex-game warden's opinion before the "trial" started. The lawyer for the defendant didn't do a great job. I would have hammered the lack of investigation by the deputies. Did they search for the spent cartridges in the road that night? Did they inventory the defendents truck, why not? Did they find a gun cleaning kit in the truck? Did they ask to search the cabin for a gun cleaning kit as they had already formed the opinion that the boys cleaned the rifle? Did they look for dirty cleaning patches? They could have smelled for the cleaning solvent in the cabin, in the truck? Have a novice, as the defendents were, clean the rifle completely in the court room for a time reference. I would have requested the judge allow the ex-game warden to be blind folded and see how well his judgement of direction and distance in the outdoors actually was. Lots more nit pickin questions could have been ask. Put the ex-game warden and deputies on trial for not doing their job.

She should be impeached and her right to practice law revoked. What a crock of SHI#, I would fight this to the very end. I would also see if I could bring a counter suit against Rusty, Judge, etc. in some kind of civil suit. This is just not right. But, I am originally from Crenshaw co. next to Lowndes and it has always been that way. The Bozeman's have always left a lot to be desired in the way they handle the law there. A lot of underhanded and just plain wrong things done. I sure hope they don't get away with this. Like I said I would not piss on her or Rusty if they were on fire. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty beyond the shadow of a doubt. It is not even close to being proven guilty.

It has never been "innocent until proven guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt". It is beyond a reasonable doubt.

I will say this. I think the boys should not have testified. They hurt themselves on the stand.

Regarding "SOME" LEO's, courts, judges, attorneys... I have (first hand knowledge and ironically, a divorce ruling IN Lowndes Co several years ago) heard some horror stories and in most cases, I truly believe that they ("they", meaning all the attorneys, LEO's, judges, etc...) all know each other and it's all a tainted BS system.
It's like the two divorce attorneys that represent a husband and wife that "have" MONEY. The two attorneys know each other unbeknownst to the husband and wife and the whole ordeal gets drawn out as money is milked from the couple.
If what you say is true, I hope justice prevails. Keep us posted.
Doekiller is right... some people get railroaded and although I have zero sympathy for a "rightly" convicted killer, I cringe at the thought of anyone getting "wrongly" convicted.

I would be appealing as quick as I could and finding another lawyer for the boys.

In Alabama is it possible to get a change of venue for a case like this? Is it possible to get a trial by jury? What is the next step? Like someone else said, I hope you are able to sue the crap out of the ex-game warden, deputies and judge.
