Interesting thread to me, but I'm comparing the Grizzly 350 to the Rancher 420. Looks like my 96 Timberwolf may have bit the dust. I wish they still made a smaller 4x4 atv. At 438 lbs. the Timberwolf was ideal for spraying crops.
I was surprised to see the smaller Yamaha models still use a carburetor. What is that about?

Honda. I'm on my third one. First two were stolen or I'd still be driving my first one.

Honda ate Yamaha's lunch for a lot of years, but in my opinion Yamaha has now passed them by. I agree with this gentleman. Old Trax 300s were the finest machines ever made.

For lots of trail riding go with the IRS no doubt. Yamaha makes some fine bikes too. I love how according to most no one makes an outboard better than Yamaha but then four wheelers come up and its "Oh you gotta get a Honda, Yamahas are a POS."  Ya I was thinking the other day about all the folks that sing the praises of RZRs and Rangers, but a Polaris sportsman is pure garbage. Humm. Since they are kinda the same company, seems like they would step it up on those sportsmans.

IRS, push button locking front differential and the power steering is better.

I don't think you will go wrong with either. I love my Grizzly 350 IRS 4wd. I have 2wd, 4wd, and locked 4wd. I wasn't so sure I would like the automatic, but so far, I love it. No problems at all.

I'd go with the foreman. Used to have a foreman 400....my Polaris just isn't the same

I have both yamaha and honda. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I've had a Polaris 700 Twin and it was the worst POS I've ever owned. I've owed a Honda Foreman since 2008 and it's flawless. I will say that my hunting buddy has a grizz and it seems solid, but it's much louder than my honda.

If your going down some steep mountainous terrian I wouldnt venture out from Honda or the Grizzly. My honda has crept down some nasty rocky steep terrian without me having to touch the brakes. My only problem with the last Grizzly I owned is it was LOUD! It was a stout atv and would go anywhere but it was loud

My only problem with the last Grizzly I owned is it was LOUD! It was a stout atv and would go anywhere but it was loud You know that is funny, I have noticed that Yamaha mufflers seem to be louder as well.

Honda - I have owned 5 without any problems. Yamaha is my second choice. Won't consider any others than these two.
