B&C or P&Y GROSS score. I couldn't give a rat's @$$ about "net". If he grows it, count it!!!
SCI.... allows high fenced bucks and I couldn't give a rat's...... about a high fence buck.

The only system that actually makes sense is the SCI (Safari Club International) scoring system.
B&C and P&Y penalize the animal for growing horn/antler.
Buckmasters system doesn't give credit for the spread.
SCI goes by the gross score of total antler/horn growth and gives credit for spread.

The score required to make P&Y for a typical is 125 net. To make B&C it's 170 net. Roger....But the scoring method is the same scoring "method" is the same but scores are sometimes quite different on the same deer, depending on "interpertations" by the individual scorer or panel of scorers. Roger....Just making sure I wasn't missing something....

It doesn't reflect the actual antler, just appearance. I got 14" wide buck that misses "the book" by 1/8" and you have one that makes it by 1/8" but has a 24" spread, which buck has the biggest antlers?

SCI recognizes fenced/pinned deer, that should tell all you need to know about them!

SCI recognizes every specie of animal on the planet, not just North America.
Yes, they have a category for estate/free-range animals and on the score sheet you mark which it came from.
I don't understand why it should matter to some of you whether a scoring system excepts them or not. What matters is which scoring system honors the animal the best.

I agree about spread being air and wish B&C never used spread, but at the end of the day right, wrong or indifferent, B&C/ P&Y are what 95% of hunters are referring to when they talk about what a deer scores, so in my book all other systems are irrelevant.
For what it's worth if I would have had anything to do with B&C scoring system I would have eliminated spread and added in mass of the tines.
By the way, the buck I killed in Mo. this year with my bow scored 146 1/8" and had a whopping 14" spread...

I agree that 90%+ of people do reference B&C or P&Y when they discuss the size of a deer but 100% of them are talking about gross, not net.

I agree.... gross is all that matters and I want to give the animal credit for total length of antler/horn.
In regards to giving the hunter credit... I'm only impressed by free-range animals. And more impressed by bow kills.
