Lot of bad advice and bad asses too. There are a couple of members on here, that want to pull guns on everybody. They better be ready to use it. They are gonna pull it on it the wrong one sometime, and have it shoved somewhere they don't want it. What happened to the good ole days. Settle it with your fists. I keep a gun close all the time , but I hope I don't have to use it. I figure if i pull it I am using it, as that is my last option. Havent seen where anyone said they were gonna shoot the owners of the dog. We're talking shooting the dog.You cant fist fight a dog.I do agree there is bad advice in this thread including my own of getting rid of the dog but in this day and time you cant settle anything with pet owners especially pit owners by just talking to them and telling them your concerns. The only way to eliminate the threat is to take it out.It is a potential threat to his kids or other family members well being.Maybe not now, maybe not a year from now but eventually hes gonna get loose. When he does he may ne gentle as can be or he may go into attack mode and attack the first person he sees which could be a kid.I WILL NOT tolerate a neighbor having a dog that i think will harm my kids or wife if the chance ever came about therefore i give you bad advice.Get rid of the dog!!

Maybe you did not read as close as I did, does not really matter. Not in just this thread,it is the same two in other threads . Their solution to most everything is pull a gun. Grow up. I have had one pulled on me a couple of times, both end results weren't good either way. I am just saying, if it gets that far, and I pull one, that is my last option, I will feel as if I have no other choice. I won't pull it to scare somebody, I plan on using it.

We will burn that bridge when we get there

Most pits dont kill anyone my ass! What hole have you had your head in? Look up the numbers and the pit is #1 and been this way for awhile. Its a numbers game and i dont like my odds if one moves in next to me in an empty lot. since they have it chained there that far away from the house they must not trust it either. cause i dont care what all the pit lovers say about them these dogs can and will turn on you without warning more than any other breed. The numbers dont lie.

Only if they catch ya. I'd get rid of the dog. I did read that in Alabama you can shoot a dog or cat for urinating or defecating on your property, so there's a way if you REALLY want to! Pretty sure that law specifies "with a bb or pellet gun". Gammo...earhole

Its only a felony if they can prove the dog is worth over $500.No law against shooting a 22 on your own property unless its in the city. committing any crime with a firearm makes it a felony. Only if they catch ya. I'd get rid of the dog. Im sure you would!

Just because someone is let go or gets convicted of something lesser doesn't mean it didn't meet felony criteria.

There are some real bad folks on here. Man with all this " if it was me I'd kill it" crap goin on I don't see how there is a pittbull left in alabama. Talk is cheap. Get to shooting a mans dog that is on a chain on his property. I bet that makes y'all feel tough. Grow some nuts and go talk to the owner. If he don't work with you on the dog and he is a real threat then take alt measures. But don't be stupid and put the crap on here

We're not gonna put up with the threat.

You could always put some poision in hamburger meet and give it to the pitbull. Better yet go on a family vacation and have a freind come by and give the pitbull some meat with rat poision in it, that way you will have an alibi!

I have 2 that I hog hunt with and have had several others. I trust my dogs but even though I do I keep them in a kennel so there is no chance of them harming anyone or anything. They are working dogs and get hunted every week. I know Pitts can be dangerous but 90% of the dogs that attack have been neglected by thier owner or are inbred for fighting purposes. Mine or neither one. I will not own one that is not out of my dogs or dogs that I know and have been around. If one comes in my yard and I feel it's a threat and don't know who's dog it is then I will be the first to pull the trigger. That's for any breed of dog. If it is a actual threat kill it but don't kill it just because its there

The numbers dont lie. It's a numbers game? What hole have you been hiding your math skills in? How many times have you personally witnessed a deadly attack by a Pit Bull? I have looked at the numbers, remember they were provided to us on a previous thread. It said there are an average of 31.5 fatal dog attacks in the US each year. Just over half are attributed to Pit bulls so that's about 16 fatal attacks a year. Is it really your contention that there are only about 20 or so pit bulls in the US? Come on man! If it was a numbers game and at the rate you suggest you'd be seeing 200 or 300 a day and not a year. The breed is one of the most popular breed in most States and you and your children are probably exposed to several a day. Just because you don't see them or know they are there doesn't mean they're not there. Pick your threat level as you chose but at least be honest about it.
Hunt'em hard when they are hard to hunt but never, ever hardly hunt!

I killed three charging towards me and my daughter when she was three years old standing on my own land walking out to check a deer camera. Havent ever found out who they belonged to so dont sit there and tell me about pits and how good of dogs they are or how much i know about them. also i have had to deal with more than once at some of the rental houses and trailers i used to own so i do have exp with these dogs. i also know two peole that have one that is a great dog and even them i have a 45 on me when im around. I know two chidren that have been attacked by a pit and both are scared up pretty good so there again i have seen what they will do first hand. and you act like its something to be proud of that pits only killed half of all people killed a year. by your post you got one and im sure love it but that dont mean i have to. i put my family and there well being over a dog and i dont have to worry about my family being harmed by a pit nooooooo i have to protect them from the rest of yall that own hands down the most dangerous dog out there.

Thanks for the advice guys. I put a call into animal control yesterday afternoon and the lady told me they were already aware of the dog. I think they must have contacted the owner because the dog has been moved closer to the pitt owners house. It makes me feel better but I still don't like the situation. I plan on being armed at all times I am outside. If things don't take care of themselves then it may be time to call my friend Mr Shooters in for a site evaluation.
