I ran across a deal on some apple trees this morning and wound up getting 11 trees for 30$. Would you plant them now as late as it is, or keep them in large containers for the summer? I have plenty of large pots and will already be watering trees all summer. They will be going into food plots so I wouldn't be able to water them if they are planted.

If you can't water them, I'd probably leave them in pots, but transplant them in larger pots although if I did that I would lose them all before fall because I would forget to water them.

I have enough 10 gallon pots I think. I'll already be watering the chestnuts that I didn't plant this spring. Might plant a couple and keep the rest here.

I'd plant them. Just dig an extra deep hole and keep them watered. Let that tap root get started growing.
