It never fails while you are speeding down the interstate, that you see those blue flashing lights ahead and you have to try and get over. I always do this, even though it is aggravating at times. Yesterday, I saw why laws have been changed to force this action and why we should all take the time to make sure we safely get over to give those officers space to do their work.

My wife and I were returning home from Melbourne, FL yesterday and traffic started backing up on I-75 just South of Ocala. I noticed the blue flashing lights just ahead of us and as we inched closer, I could see folks both scrambling and standing around on the South bound side of 75. There were a few cars involved in the wreck, but it didn't look to be all that serious. As we got beside the wreck, there were 2 other officers and bystanders trying to lift something up. At this point, traffic was at almost a complete stop and my wife mentioned that an FHP car was also involved. We were at the very end of the wreck and when I glanced over, I saw something that shook me to my core. There by themselves, away from all the other people, was an FHP officer that had been run over and was obviously dead. I wish I had pulled over and put a blanket over them. We found out later that the officer was a female and that a tow truck driver was also killed. They were trying to clear up a previous wreck when another wreck happened at the same spot. frown
