What happened? See that big, rectangular tank beside the 4 wheeler? Top came off and sloshed fuel up my back and out to the lit tip... Woof. Didn't know it 'till I smelled burning hair

Seen it happen many times before. Them ATV flame throwers are dangerous, especially in terrain. Glad you are OK.
BTW, what in the heck are you site prep burning in Feb?

Wow! Glad you are OK, the Lord was looking out for you! Did this happen yesterday? Bamaproud and company sure didn't exactly nail the weather forecast. All week they had been saying no fire weather issues. We burned the first section yesterday morning without any issues, ate lunch and I checked the forecast again. Everything still ok; about 1 pm I noticed that backfires were shooting up flames 6' high 2 minutes after lighting them. Checked the weather again - Red Flag Warning in effect. Nice to put it on after I had 50 acres on fire. I didn't have any choice but to continue, so just used backfires after that, and still had a number of trees to get scorched pretty bad.
I can see why the atv burned so quickly if this happened yesterday afternoon. Thankful you are ok.

I won't do it today, gobbler; its too soon after you narrowly avoided tragedy. But I will warn you that I now have some excellent joke material when you start your "pro vs. amateur" stuff.  Sure glad you are ok!

Rather "Bail off a moving wheeler, crash to the ground, strip off coat, swat out hair and roll" An exciting 2-3 seconds  I actually have not cut it yet and it happened Dec 12th I think, so that answers Rebelman's que! After I washed it out, my wife said it was tolerable until the short stuff grew out so now I DO look like a hippy God blessed you! You must have something to live for!!! Glad you came out ok. Yea, I got lucky and blessed for just the loss of a wheeler. I was buring just the other side of the Nat Forest from you yesterday and today and had GREAT fires! You know that the comment will be returned "you are not a professional unless you have burned off most of your hair and a nice Columbia parka off your back" Put your tank on the front rack...that is where we have ours. I've had the parts to refurb it since Christmas but haven't done it yet. The front will be where it will go but I think I will let my partner drive it for a while!! I am back to liking my driptorch again!!
