I do not thing it is true a bit. Turkeys do like to roost on ridges and such over creeks.

They get lots of their water from the dew and from the insects and plants that they eat.

I've seen them roost over water as well as high ridges away from water. I think they roost where they feel the safest.

the bird we busted out in the dark yesterday was sitting directly over a small pond. Had he dropped a turd, it would have hit the water.

I've had an old timer tell me hens nest close to water so the poults are close to a drink when born. That's what he says..

Same amount of fact as the one where they hit water right before roosting and after flying down. I find nests all the time nowhere near water!

He pitches to a tree off of a hillside to roost. Where I'm at, at least, there is usually water below


one foot in the ground and one foot on the pedal...
