A 3" is fine to shoot but You need to shoot the 3.5 and see for yourself,I always shoot the 3.5 because it does pattern better than a 3" out of my gun and I can't tell much difference in the recoil.If you don't shoot anykind of heavy shot you can buy a box of 10 in federal or winchesters for less than $20 a box so they are not that expensive.The extra shot in the 3.5 can make the difference sometimes in a longer shot.
