I have been trying a few mornings to get a turkey for a friend who was in a bad wreck a few years ago and is disabled. We have had a few good chances the last few days, but it finally came together this morning. This place is loaded with birds but we didn't hear a single gobble before 7:30. We got on a group of turkeys working a field edge and set up on a roadway between the field they were on and where I figured they were headed to. We could see them strutting with hens for close to an hour in the other field, gobbling the whole time. Two of the gobblers and three jakes finally committed and came down the roadway. He laid him down at 15 steps. We were almost able to double on the other tom but he stopped behind some hedge after the shot. Was a great morning.
