Hell I just dump them straight in the pot anyhow unless they are just really nasty, after all they are going into boiling water, that right there washes the mud off. It ends up as sediment in the bottom of the pot anyhow. My brother in law is a NOLA native, him and his crew straightened me out and got me doing them the right way several years ago. marshmud991 Booner M Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 11,286 Likes: 156 USA	Y'all missin the most important step. After the crawfish are boiled lower or shut off fire and dump a bag of ice on top of crawfish. The sudden drop in temp shocks the shell and causes them to suck in a lot of the seasoned water. Just have a large hand towel or a roll of good paper towels because u fixin to get messy the way to your elbows. Try it and y'all will thank me!!! It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.
