The wife and I have been passively searching for land to build on. We are wanting something in the 20-40 acre range in Ohatchee/Alexandria area. What all sites do you guys know of that I can use to search? We have one 40 acre tract that we are considering that is up clos to the Big Oak Boys Ranch.

Start calling the local banks and see what they have. Land that is repossessed is then auctioned. If it doesn�t bring what the bank wants they will buy it and sell it themselves. The local banks around here always have land.

Real estate agents. Also, the real estate books have ads for Kessler Land Agency and I think there was another one in the Gadsden-Anniston area.

Go to the banks website and there will probably be a link to repossessed land and foreclosures that they have. Failing that, talk to the branch manager of the bank. Also, look for foreclosures. You can get a heck of a deal on a house with land. In 2005, we got our house/land as a foreclosure (only 8 acres, but there's absolutely nothing (no neighbors, subdivisions, etc behind my land). 2800 sq ft house built in 2002 with the 8 acres for $170000. Appraisal came in at $325000 and when we refinanced a few years ago, the appraisal came back at $335000. We couldn't have bought a piece of property in the area we live and built on it for less than $250000

In a google search type in whatever county you are in and gis if I was looking for land in Talladega county I would do a search for Talladega gis. It's like an online plat book. It has an aerial map like google earth and properties are outlined and when you click on them it shows you the acreage and the name and address of the landowner. Can't hurt to call and ask people if they want to sell if you see something you like
