So I turned 21 a couple of months ago and am gonna go apply for a carry permit. I know the application (Lee County) asks if you've ever been taken into custody or if you've ever been charged with a crime. This is the root of my question. When I was 18 I was taken into custody and charged with public intox and underage consumption. I completed a pre-trial diversion program so the charges were dropped and I've got a clean record, and on everything I've touched since completing the program I've answered no arrests/taken into custody. However, I know getting a carry permit is pretty serious. Is it still ok to answer these questions "no"?

Id answer "yes" and then they usually give you an area to explain.
You may get jammed up if you say "no" to be honest.

I had the same issue. I answered yes. It has never been a problem.

They run a back ground check. Doesn't really matter how you answer. If they see a problem they will ask you. I personally wouldn't sweat it.

when I was 18 I had a list of things the got me on public intox one of them. I anser yes on mine and they never asked. its better to be honest about it.

Answer truthfully... As long as you ain't got a felony or domestic violence conviction you will get one....

Answer yes! In the military I had one of my guys fill out paperwork for a security clearance and he had a similar situation when he was that age. It was "wiped clean" of his record so answered the question "no". During the investigation and background checks, it still popped up and they didn't give him his clearance because he lied. He thought he did the right thing because he was told it was wiped clean, but trust me, it can still be found. If he had answered yes, they would have given him the security clearance.

It was not wiped clean. Even if it was sealed as a youthful offender, it is still visible to law enforcement. It will always show the arrest. Answer yes, if you answer no, it is a lie and a reason to deny you.

Answer yes. Their are many of us that have a past. You can have an arrest record as long as your arm but if you have no convections its a different story. You CAN get a pistol permit if you tell the truth and talk correctly to the sheriff!

Definitely answer yes, an alcohol charge when you were younger will not keep you from getting your permit.

No= lie and is a real big deal. At best you get no permit, at worst, you get charged with a crime and put into databases you don't want to be in.
18 YOA Public Intox is not a big deal to Law Enforcement. It won't even keep you from a LE job if you've been a good boy since then.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
