Looking into buying a crossbow for next season ,i would like to get some input on what kind to buy and the pros and cons of hunting with them , also i would like to have a scope on one so would like to know what kind of scope to use. Thank you all in advance for your help.

Excaliburs are very good, they are very accurate and fast. I have a 1998 model that still shoots great, mine is 185 lb recurve that shoots apx 275 fps. The new models shoot 350 fps and are very accurate as well. The string is easy to replace, nothing like cables, wheels, and pulleys to worry with. I have killed probably 25 with mine, will shoot about and broadhead you like very well.

I shoot an Excalibur Equinox and like it for the simplicity. However I do think my excalibur is loud. Many manufacturers make great crossbows. Look for at least 300fps and good repeatable accuracy. You can find a lot of deals on used ones at good prices. You get into those types of questions. It is like Browning or Remington, which is better? When you do strap a broadhead to the front end try slick tricks. They are expensize but fly exceptionaly well.

bought a ten point last year smooth and is a real tack driver.but very heavy on the price.barrnett that i just got is also a real tack driver and didnt cost half as much and is faster.but you will want to change out the scope for a better one is the only change i would make.
