For some reason while reading this post the lights in the room automatically dimmed and somber music and mood took over the room.
I recognized this from years ago when I was fixing to get married and my soon to be bride selected the date....opening day of general gun season...I said "nah bad date"....she folded her arms across her chest, shifted her weight onto her left leg, stuck out her right foot and started tapping the floor with her right toes.
She looked at me with the eyes of Satan herself and in a growling but shaking voice she said "but dear that is the first day we met down at the Pond and that is the date I want to get married, capiesh?" She nor I are Italian so don't know what that means.
I stood there shaking in my boots and began to notice how dry my mouth was as I struggled to come back with some manly Chuck Norris type answer, but all that came out in the voice of a scared 13 year 0ld puberty voice was "well ok babe if it means that much to you".
Then the lights dimmed, the sun suddenly darkened, the birds fell silent, wildlife suddenly felt safe enough to just stand in the pasture during mid day hours, and the ground shook as I realized that that date would forever have a very different meaning and activity that I was used to and loved so much, then I saw it.....my man card...... the card I fought my dad, grandpa, uncles and friends so hard for, many cuts and bruises and scratches and a few broken teeth and bones to get...Hours upon hours of football practice enduring concussions and Bull in the Ring, angle drills, suicides and laps in the thousands....all of that hard work, sweat and hidden tears....for that card....MY Man Card.....it was being ripped from my body with such force that my nads shrunk up and ran atleast a foot back up into my body, suddenly appearing in her hand.
I am not sure who the Aldeer member is but I personally have seen what happens when you lose your man card and it aint pretty.
Prayer lifting up for this Aldeer member.
Hunt'em hard when they are hard to hunt but never, ever hardly hunt!
