Started at University of Alabama as a computer science engineer in fall of 1996. Realized that I didn't want to do that kind of stuff for the rest of my life so I switched to Marine Science(I grew up on the coast and lived the "Salt Life") before they had stickers!!
Graduated in summer of 2001(had some extracurricular fun....maybe too much) with two degrees, A BS in Biology and a BS in Marine Science.
I have worked in my field ever since and love it. I workwith freshwater stuff right now

Right out of high school in 95 I started at Snead State with a scholarship. No way I could have paid by myself. After that, I got a job at Hanna Steel and they offered full paid tuition and books as long as you had a C or above. I wasted a year or two and finally signed up for Jacksonville. After a year, the steel market tanked and the company stopped all scholarships. I did not get to go for my senior year. I still did ok, but the lesson learned is that you take any scholarship money offered to you asap. If I hadn't piddled around, I could have graduated.

Took me longer than it should have but nobody had more fun than me my first few years. I LOVED Auburn! My dad was worried that I'd quit college and come home... then he worried that I'd never graduate!
Regrets? Yep! I have been in sales in the medical device industry and have done pretty well but I would never want my children to do this. I wish I had gotten a degree that would allow me to make money in the outdoors.
At this point in my life, I wish I had a business of my own.
As for advice for my children... get a degree (in law would not be bad) and work toward owning a business and service and appreciate your customers better than your competition.

I have my associates degree from Northeast State Community College, my B.S. from Jacksonville St University, and my Masters from JSU. and now I'm back at NACC teaching part time after teaching high school for 30 years .Man, I've been in school all my life !!

I got my BS in secondary education from Auburn in 1995, MS in Administration from University of Georgia in 1998, EdS in Administration from Lincoln Memorial University in 1999, and completed my coarse work for my Doctorate at the University of Alabama in 2001.
I didn't finish that degree, and kinda wish I had, but I had my first of 3 children, and they became way more important than that last title. I have been in public education for 18 years, and can say I really have and still enjoy my job daily. God has really blessed me with a great career and family!
