I got my AA at a Jr College (played baseball = free ride). One of the first classes that I took at USF was Elementary Analytical Chemistry. Day 1: I went into a big auditorium filled with 300-400 kids (WOW). There was 3 sections. A middle and rt & left sides of seats. People ready to learn sitting everywhere. I sat in the back row (VERY BACK ROW Center section).
I went to my first lab, and didn't have an area to work. The TA said, those of you without lab space don't worry, 75% of the people won't be here after the first test. I thought he was full of sh1t. I was wrong.
I ended the class sitting in the back of class, but I was in the 3rd row, and there were only people in the middle section. That class went from +300kids to 27.
After Analytical and Organic the classes only had anywhere from 9 to 30 students. P-Chem they combined undergrads and grad students. This is a school with +20,000 students.
