Anyone ever shoot one or have opinions? Looks like a nice shotgun for the $. Thinking It might be time to move from old Winchester Super X Model 1 and retire that sweetheart for something a little more modern.

If I needed an autoloader in that price range, the A300 is exactly what I'd buy.
Beretta makes great stuff.

I love me some Berettas.....but I will be honest...I'm not a big fan of the American made Berettas after checking a bunch of them out in the stores. I'm sure they are FINE guns from a reliability standpoint, but the fit, finish, and quality just doesn't seem to be in the same ballpark as my Italian Berettas. If it were me....I think I would rather buy a gently used Italian Beretta.

Jughead makes a good point but I guess it all depends on what you're using the gun for. If it is exclusively for ducks and turkeys and the odd dove shoot, then fit and finish aren't a big deal for most of that type of hunting.
But if you're doing a lot of clay target shooting you probably want something you'll enjoy handling more. Problem is, you'll still probably pay a bit more for a used AL391 than for an A300 new.
I have the A400 in 12 and 20 and love 'em, but they come with a price tag.

Yeah I saw that price tag. About 1350-1450 depending on finish. Thanks for the thoughts on the 300. When you see a new Beretta under a $k it gets your attention. As I shop around I have also noticed the Browning Magnus I believe it's called. I really like my Browning rifles and if it's going to take that kind of money then the new Brownings are in play along with Benellis. Guess I'm looking for that one do-it-all hunting shotgun with multi shell length offerings in case I have to reach on out der for a big bird!

The Browning is called the Maxus. It's a good gun too.
I just really really like the new Berettas. Very easy to keep clean and they fit me better than anything else.
I don't personally have a need for a 3.5" shotshell. 2.75" works for nearly anything but I will shoot a 3" at a turkey and (sometimes) ducks!

I got an a300 for my brother today. For a midrange all around shotgun
You can turkey ,duck, or dove hunt with you can't beat it .

I keep going back to it. $1500 is hard swallow right after deer season. The weight of a Maxus, A400, etc. could create a little " red bead fatigue" when the heat is on. Ya don't get that 3 1/2 inch option but heck the shells that are available today compensate for that with heavy and high power choices.
I'm sure he will enjoy it. If you go pattern it for turkey please post your results. Meanwhile I'll be saving pesos for 13 more days!
