We live on a sailboat and travel up and down the coast regularly. Mexico Beach and Port St Joe is my favorite. Really good fishing there off the 2 piers at the marina sea wall, beutiful beaches, small town but several good restaurants.

Thanks for the help, guys. I've looked at all the suggestions and appreciate each of them. All of the above mentioned places are very nice and definitely would have worked. Looks like we settled on Cape San Blas as it had the best house for what we were looking for. Only one restaurant on the whole 20 mile island and no hotels...sounds like my kinda place.

nope...my dad grew up there and actually worked at the mill while in highschool. It's still the most remote beach town in Fl. but a lot more developed than it used to be. the peninsula at cape san blas is pretties beach I've ever seen. Beats hawaii, Mexico, Bahamas, etc.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check out San Blas. How do the rates compare to PC for a rental house?

I will echo what everyone else has said. PSJ/Mexico Beach is a nice area to vacation and fish. Was there yesterday to do a little fishing out of PSJ and the lack of traffic and friendly people was nice.

Panama City is about the same distance from me, but I prefer fishing out of MB/PSJ due to the nice, un crowded boat ramps, lack of traffic, and artificial reefs from close by the beach to 20 miles out.
