I know 20 gauge tss is all the rage but you are not a man if you dont shoot a 12 bore pump with synthetic stock and sling 2.5 oz of hevi shot (nitro company load)!

With that being said..has anyone ever used a mercury recoil reducer? Lol I just ordered one if for nothing else than to add some weight to balance out the gun and surely that will save my shoulder. I know here comes the "you might as well use a roll of nickles" comments but fire away!

I used to tote around them big guns and shells to hunt turkeys with and I thought I was a man too. Then I started shooting 20's and .410's for turkeys and I knew I was a man grin

10g probably kicks less.

I like shooting my 870 3.5" turkey loads. Steel shot doesn't kick bad at all out of it.

I've got scars to prove I've shot them. A whole bunch of em matter of fact. I've also toted that heavy mug enough miles to get me across the U.S. and back, but not anymore. For now, I'm done toting that heavy bastage. That 20 feels better every time I pick it up.

This forum has sold me on the 20 so I will probably end up with one eventually. Until then im going to test out the reducer to try and tame the beast a little.

Have any of you ever tried one?

I had one in a Benelli Nova. It did seem to help with the recoil but made the gun back-heavy/unbalanced.

I filled my stock with silicone when I had a nova. It seemed to help some.

I had one in my 870. It made the balance of the gun better. I eventually took it out. I don't have it in there anymore.
