The wife was cooking some chicken for the kids and after the timer went off she pulled it out and the food is cold. I saw it turn red earlier so I know it was heating. Broil does not work either. The eyes on the cook top still work......ideas?

Doesn't the stove run of a 220 plug. My guess is one side of the plug runs the oven the other side the stove eyes.....it is probably on a double circuit breaker....maybe one of them is tripped......but I'm not an electrician......

Most times the elements burn out while they're on ( kind of hard for something electrical to break while in the off position).

Go turn the oven on in the bake position. If the bottom element heats up, it is fine; in which case its the t-stat.

sorry, just saw that both elements aren't working. Sounds like the bake/broil switch and/or t-stat switch is bad.

Probably.

Fires? You talking about the oven or the fireplace? laugh

On a serious note, I hope it's simple and cheap to fix.

For the oven controls, poke a key pad model or good ol dial knob model?

That's what I figured. Mine's that way too. I am sure no electrician but I would see if I could check those controls with a volt meter.

You should also be able to check where the elements plug in with a meter but the likelyhood of both elements going out at the same time would be pretty low.
