That other thread got me to thinking... here's what I have found AND lost on the road: (I'm not too proud to stop and pick things up!!!) Most of us have found something but what have you LOST that flew out of the back of your truck? I keep forgetting to close my tailgate and well, I have lost some things.

Found - nice Coleman cooler, nice chain, pair of nice wire cutters.
Lost - Bow box with lots of bow tools and stuff. Swivel boat seat. Plastic gas can with a vent value I put in it myself and a tackle box with fishing stuff in it.

The bow box hurt to lose!!! Lost somewhere last year either on Hwy 119, US 280, I459 or I65N between Bham and H'ville.

Lost an aluminum ladder one time coming back from the club. Had radio blasting and never heard it, still not sure how it came off truck and how I didn't hear it.

Found a bunch of tools, tool boxes etc but the best was a giant pair of channel locks. (20.25"). They stay in the truck now and have been used for everything from tightening a ball on a receiver to a improvised hammer. I lie those things

Almost lost a gps one time. Sat it on the roof of my truck. Going about 65 up hwy 25 from Centerville I heard it flipping on my roof. It hit the road but I stopped and got it.

Never had a windshield on a golf cart before. I got a new golf cart and it had a windshield. I loaded the golf cart backwards on the trailer as I always do and when I get home with my new pride and joy.......no windshield!!!!! I immediately back tracked and it was gone.......brand new......not one scratch. Boy it was a nice windshield

Oh, I forgot about trailering my 1976 CJ7 Jeep about nine years ago. I took my jeep to have some work done on it and on my way back home, I forgot that I had not put "all" the screws in to secure the hardtop. Well, you guessed it... when I got home... no hardtop. I know I was on I65 in B'ham headed south but I don't know where my hardtop came off. I hope no one was hurt or anything happened to anyone behind me.

I'm sure some Aldeer guy stopped and picked it up.

Early one morning at the breaking of dawn I found an almost new emglo air compressor with a 7hp honda engine. It was sitting on the side of hwy 431 upright just as pretty as you please. My guess was that during the night someone had stopped to re-secure their load and overlooked putting the compressor back on the truck or trailer.
So I loaded it up and dropped it off at the sherriffs Dept for the owner to claim. The deputy that took the compressor was anything but friendly. As a matter of fact, he treated me like I was some kind of criminal. I went on my way and instead of feeling good about doing a good deed I was insulted and kinda pissed off at the deputy.
Later, I found out that a steelworking business about a 1/4 mile down the road had been broken into during the night. I'm just glad that I didn't meet up with that deputy while I was loading up the compressor.

Found a busted ice chest on 59 right out of Stockton one time.I reckon it was about 14years ago it was loaded with beer & alcohol.Only one bottle was busted! boy was we some happy teenagers!..Now I left a pair of 10�42 Nikon monarchs on the side of my truck bed made someone happy .Had the tailgate off my little pickup when I was a teenager, and I lost a box of craftsman tools I got for Christmas one time.

Well I forgot about my trailer gate coming off last year!!!! Lmao..I was almost to my camp & I noticed a few sparks, figured it was the chains dragging! Well when i pulled into camp & I was like rut roh!!!I whipped back around & found it lying on the side of the road...

10 years working for the power company I have spent a lot of time on the side if the road and in ditches. Found everything from money( nothing larger than a $5) to, usable car parts, drugs, clothes, dirty magazines, knives, brand new role of solder, sockets, wrenches, drill bits, no telling how many ratchet straps and bungy cords, those good white foam coolers. I could go on and on. Best place to find loose change is at a stop sign if you want to dig through the cigarette butts. Railroad crossings are a great place to find stuff too

Found a Summit Tree Stand on a bridge one morning going to work. It had a few scratches where it hit the cement but looked to be brand new.

Not sure how I forgot this one. A whole golf cart loaded with a honda whisper generator, 5 gallon gas can, charger for the cart, and a billion odds and ends that were in the baskets. Leaving the club one night headed back to the house, I felt the truck do something weird and looked at my now wife and said what was that??? She laughed and said did the golf cart just fall off....... I laughed and said yeah while mashing the brake to illuminate my trusty golf cArt on the trailer thats NOT ON THE TRAILER!!!!! two straps had broken (not sure why I was using the two oldest ratchet straps I had) and it had broken the 2x12 that I was using as a gate. I cut across the median and headed back towards the bridges where I hoped it was sitting on all four tires waiting on my arrival.........nah!!! Laying on its side with the front end tore out from under it, about half of the batteries had come out of it, my honda generator and charger were 50 yards from my golf cart . Talk about a cluster &#^$/$^. Within 2 minutes 15 trucks had stopped to help who all had on camo. We loaded everything I could find up and drove 2 hours home in complete silence. Those two old ratchet straps cost me about 500$.

Buddy I go to school with lives out in the country and was walking down his road and came across a Benelli SBE and a pile of fishing rods and reels, tackle box, some tools and a bunch of trash. Contacted the Sheriff's dept. and never heard back about the gun. Someone Pissed off their old lady bad.

I found a frozen toe once.

A Bible in a black carrying case that looked like a lady's purse on I-10 just past Malbus in the west bound lane about 4 or 5 years ago. I do a phone/internet search about once a year trying to find the owner, Wendy Grigsby. No luck yet. Has date of marrage in front of 17 March 1989 in Gatlinburg Tennessee. I really wish I could return it to her.

I work alongside the road and around bridges as well. You would surprised at how much porn I have found under bridges and along the roadside. I find a lot of tools as well like stated earlier. I once found a scene, under a bridge, were there had been a fire and about 15-20 open packs of Sudafed. Sketchy stuff. I did come across a decent sized Hefty bag that reeked of death. You could see the flies swarming around it. I just knew for certain I had found dead body and got a bad feeling in my gut. I had to check it out though to make sure and thank the Lord it was a dog. On a lighter note, last summer I stumbled across this guy getting some afternoon delight on the creek bank.

I've found hammers, pliers, tie down straps, bungee cords, trailer receiver hitches, etc. Nothing really strange though.

Found a broken, rusted Craftsman handsaw once about 20 years ago. Being a craftsman brand, I took it back to Sears where they gave me a brand new one. It's still in my garage, I used it just the other day. I have found sockets/ratchets, ratchet straps, bungee cords, telephone company tools (where they bounce out of that bag off the back of their truck I guess). Nothing too exciting.
