Once or twice when I was young. That's one of those smells that trigger your brain pretty quick. Not interested in ever doing it again.

Back in the 70's the Boy Scout camp sequoia only had outhouse. They were doubles with a divider inbetween. Played some bad tricks on guys by throwing big rocks down the crapper on the other side. You can just imagine.

I do a lot of mission work all over the world. It's all we use in the third world. In Africa, they don't have seats, just a hole in the ground.

Hunted in a club for about 13 years that had one. Always kept a bag of lime out there too, to put a scoop on top of what you just dropped.

We had an outhouse at our old hunting camp in TN...I'll never forget the feeling of that cold seat at 5 am on a 20 degree morning

Yes, but only in other countries. It seems like it would be great after reading 'self-sustainability/rural living' books, but I did not enjoy it. Had to go somewhere though, and it served its purpose. How about the 'hole-in-the-floor' squatter in Asia? You really have to be careful with your belt/pants in those.

My grandpa didnt get an in house toilet til I was about 6 or 7. For reference, I'm 35 now. Using the outhouse is something I'll always be able to tell my kids about.

I have at Boot Camp at Ft Leonard Wood...one idot dropped a riot baton in one...stuck like a javelin about 5 ft down....he HAD to get it...it was just a broom stick basically, but it would have cost him about 10 million pushups...We lifted the top off the poop mine... held him by his feet and lowered him to grab it...still remember him begging us , "PLEASE DONT DROP ME"....

An outhouse was all we had till I was about 14 years of age. Even the school I attended till about the 6th grade had an open pit with a few open bottom commodes mounted in a concrete floor. We were poor, just didn't have a big problem with it cause everybody in school was poor also.

My Aunt Mattie lived west of Phenix City and had one. Two hunting clubs I was invited to hunt had outhouses. Never forget waking up at 3:00 AM with an exploding stomach, its pouring cats and dogs and cold as rip. That brings back memories.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

My aunt and uncle in Iowa had an outhouse until the early 80's. Old Farm house that had running water but no bathrooms. We visited often in the winters growing up and I'll never forget the COLD of that seat.
Have been in several hunting clubs with outhouses.

"Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. Samuel Adams

Used one in either North Dakota or Montana last summer and at the time I was thankful for it. It was in a little one horse town that consisted of about four trailers and a bar. Lucky for me the bar had an outhouse. They don't even have a tree to hide behind in that part of the country, you would just have to turn your back to the highway and do your business.
Lead, follow or get the HELL outa the way!

We had an outhouse even when I left Alabama for the midwest in 1976 and I was 18 years old.
