Does anyone know of a gunsmith that does this? I'm going to want one on my sps tactical in the near future and was wondering if someone fairly local was doing this instead of sending it off somewhere.

What's it used for? What are the advantages?

Look up Loose Cannon Firearms they can do what ever you want. Good folks to deal with. There in Autaugaville, Alabama. http://www.loosecannonfirearms.com/I know it says coming soon but I think they are open already. I know the owner and shoot with them I'll find out and post back.

There is a bolt-on type you can get at midwayusa that just clamps over the existing knob.

Yea they are up and running. These guys are top notch and will understand exactly what you are looking for as they are also long range shooters.

I had a Tac Ops bolt knob installed on mine. A buddy of mine had a guy he works with machine the original knob down and thread it so the Tac Op would screw on.

Lots of good smiths for that sort of thing. Phoenix custom rifles is who I would use.
