The Dept had a chance just before I hired on in 1980 to go to the trooper retirement system and didn't do it. The troopers pay a little more in each check but get a whole lot more back at retirement, and at 20 instead of 25 years. Much better deal.
It's all about the money, either at retirement, while working, or better chances at promotion, FOR THE OFFICERS. Do YOU think you would vote for a perceived smaller amount of money?
It has nothing to do with bettering the workings of the DCNR, better management of the game, or better serving the hunters of Alabama, all of which I think will decline.
If this change takes place I will bet it will be the biggest clusterscrew in Alabama hunting history. Write down that I said it here and now....

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
