Spent all day on the side of a cold windy mountain.
loco

Went old school this time - 1968 Win 30-30, Ruger Single Six, German hunting knife

Gotta wade the creek

And up we go

View of creek from first ledge

Up we go again

Top finally in sight

Finally there - wind was terrible. Shifted constantly.

Still a good day in the woods

I'm not going to carry any more weight than needed. That pistol and knife would not be needed. I like the pics makes a story better.

I've kinda taken to carrying a pistol during the rut if I'm sitting on the ground. If I could figure out to shoot a scoped rifle left handed I wouldn't worry about it but a pistol could be real handy if a buck came cruising thru and got on top of you real quick from your off side. I just throw mine in my backpack when I start up and set it beside me when I sit down........mine ain't wrapped up in a holster tho it's ready.

I never tried hunting like that. I think I am going to try it this weekend. Sorry that you did have any luck. I am going to take my 44 scoped Ruger pistol or 44 SW scoped and see if I can get on that is pretty close.

Keep after them.

Thanks,

I always carry too much stuff. Just in case, I make sure that if I had to I could stay all night or at least till someone could find me. And having more stuff up there to make things comfortable is worth the suffering of dragging it up. No phone coverage there. Learned a long time ago to keep a pistol in a holster until you are ready to use it. Especially a single action. On the ledge before the top were several piles of deer pellets. Have shot several there before. Just the wind was stupid. I bet every deer in three counties in different directions knew I was up there.

Same here.

Great pics

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Pretty place, woods are kinda open.

"Why do you ask"?

Too many people spend money they don't have , on things they don't need, to impress people they don't know.
