I've learned that hunting 3 minutes from my house for the last few years has spoiled me. I dread that long 35 mile drive to my father in laws club when I go with him.

The older I get, the less I know.
The answers I had yesterday, will be questions I have tomorrow.
The gray whiskers, in my beard, are now the majority.
When you find an old girlfriend, on Facebook, she isn't going to be the beauty she was 25 years ago.
When she finds you, on Facebook, delete your profile and run like hell.

1. Quality time spent hunting with your kid, is more important than the quantity of deer you can kill by yourself.
2. Two old friends in a "buddy stand" can make more noise laughing and cutting up than a whole pack of kids.
3. The older I get the more I realize that the hunting part is the treat, and the killing part is where the work begins.

1. I learned to make hunting fun again. Up till this year it had been like going to work.
2. I learned I'm getting older and it is getting harder to drag deer out of the mountains.
3. I miss hunting with my sons. I need new recruits GRAND KIDS LOL.

1. John McCain was right about a lot of hunters.
2. Gotta getta piece of my own dirt.
3. People who diss small game hunters for going during "their" deer season are buttholes.
4. Hunters who want does killed and say kids need to be involved with hunting often become hypocrites because of antler ego.
5. It's only hunting. Other things in life are more important.

That the time spent with my 2 boys outdoors is priceless.
That my 12yo is growing up, hunting alone and making good hunting decisions.
That my 9yo is a pretty dang good shot w/ bow, rifle or shotgun.
That I must be gettin old cause the 9yo HEARD the rabbit the dogs were running saturday before he saw it.

1. It's all about the hunting and not killing
2. It's more fun to help a friend kill a deer than yourself
3. There's nothing better (when hunting) than watching your 12 yr old son kill his first deer with a longbow.
4. It's sad when your son feels the need to hunt in a tree "without" his dad up there with him.
5. It's humbling to watch your son sit in a tree by himself and make you proud by showing you what he has learned watching you all these years when you thought he wasn't paying attention.
6. Friends and family are more important than hunting but are even better when combined.

1. Nothing much changes.......

2. Deer meat is more expensive than Filet Mignon.

3. There ain't nothing you can do for some folks and still not be the bad guy.

4. God loves us so much, He gave us the wilderness to prove it. And then He gave us His Grace through His Son.

Luck is an important factor in success.

Not that much, but with turkey season right around the corner, I am sure I will prove again just how stupid I really am...

That the experience often outweighs the results.

That corn mighta helped. I learned once again deer will never do what you want them to when you want them to.LOL

1. I loved seeing my 11 yr old son kill his first rack buck 7pt.
2. That I enjoy figuring out the deer more than killing the deer.
3. That a quality, comfortable loc-on is a must for an all day sit when you have back trouble.
4. That when you hunt with a bow, deer walk behind every available twig to block the shot.
5. That a polite "asking the neighbors to stay of your property" is not enough.

I have learned to just wait to hunt in January when the rut is starting and find where the does feed or are bedding, climb a tree to see as far as you can and just wait till he shows up looking for them does.

and, less than 48 hours after uttering this you kill one of those mature dudes....LOL! not so hard for you! congrats CD

1. i seldom learn much from my hunting mistakes. already knew, but shown again
2. when advised to do my spring scouting before green up, listen. it's a jungle out there in 5000+ acres of cutover!
3. i'm much more upset that my boy didn't get a deer than that i was, again, eluded by a mature, unbroken buck.
4. movement patterns of deer can change drastically from summer to fall/winter
5. the wife must go to shoting range more this summer even if she does consider herself a skilled marksperson....

Here's what I've learned:

1. Just when you think you've got deer figured out, they'll throw you for a loop (I learned that LONG ago, but for some reason, I just can't beat it into my head)
2. Just because you took the time, effort, and money to plant corn, it doesn't mean that a "good" buck will come to it in the daylight!
3. Somebody flipped a switch at New Year's. Like usual, the post-rut was worthless (other than seeing a few does and spikes), but just because the season's open I HAVE to go hunting.
4. As an avid bowhunter, ALWAYS take an extra "critter arrow" with you (I've done this for a few years and it's a lot of fun!).

I learned that no matter how hard you try it is almost impossible to harvest a mature buck when every 1.5yr old is either shot at or killed on your club as well as the adjoining clubs. First time I haved literally watched deer avoid a piece of land like it was the plauge.

1. Don't leave a loose broadhead in your bowcase.
2. Don't under any circumstances trust a fart.
3. Never take a dump where your rabbit dogs will roll in it.
4. Last but most important, let the little ones walk and they will get bigger.
