A lot of people don't know how to properly fit their boots for keeping toes warm. Your feet need enough room for air to circulate, meaning the heated air off your body. But also, you don't need to sweat either. Get your hunting boots in a size bigger than you need. Get a pair of socks that are either silk or a silk/poly blend. Put these on first then a good warm sock. If your feet should sweat, the silk wicks moisture away from your foot and into the sock and boot. Again, when you put your boots on there should be sufficient room in them for warm air circulation. I do the above and wear the 800 gr boots and never have an issue with cold feet. Tight boots mean cold feet.
I agree completely with this!! This to me is very important. I have Danner lace up with 1200g thinsulate and my feet rarely get cold. I forgot them in my truck last week and they got wet, so Saturday I actually just wore my work boots. They are lacrosse Wellingtons with no insulation and with a liner sock and wool sock and plenty of room for my feet to breathe.....my feet still didnt get cold. Temp when I got in the tree stand was 18. I have found if I can keep my feet dry and give them some room to breathe....they rarely get cold.
