I'm looking for a tall waterproof pair of WARM insulated boots. My cold weather boots are only about 12" tall and not very waterproof and my rubber boots are COLD! What are some good, tall, waterproof, insulated boots to wear when it's cold? I've been told to look at the muck woody max but they don't look like they'd be any warmer than the lacrosse neoprene boots I have now. Any good recommendations?

I bought some of the game winners( muck boots) at academy. my feet have actually been staying pretty warm in those and my feet get cold very easily.

I wear muck as well never had a problem with them they do great to keep my feet warm even after walking long distances

Darryl I'm going to give you some more good advice on hunting gear. Stay away from the Mucks unless you would like to buy a new pair every couple years. The soles are known for coming unglued. If I were in the market for a warm pair of waterproof hunting boots I would strongly look at UA 800 gram boots they have. I'm on my 4th year with the pair of UA boots I have. They are light and very comfortable. They are well made and no issues. I do recommend going one size larger than you would normally wear. They run a little small from my experience.

I also have muck boats and they are very comfortable and best boots I've had for keeping your feet warm but as squeaky said mine are tearing up and this is year 3.

7mm Lacrosse Aeroheads. Much more comfortable than the older Lacrosse boots and they are warm. Good luck finding a pair though.

Just be careful tucking your pants cuffs down in them.......

I have a pair of muck boots I have had for 5+ years. They keep my feet plenty warm, and have had 0 trouble with them. They are not tearing up, but I have several pair of boots that I rotate wearing depending on temp, weather conditions & terrain.

I have the Muck Woody Max. I have had them for two season with no problems. They are very warm. But, I only wear them when it is less than 40, so they do not have as much wear as others may put on them. They are the most comfortable boots I have worn. Much better than the Lacrose I wore for years.

Agree with Squeaky, my woody maxs and my regular mucks soles are coming unglued after only a few seasons of use. I finally went back to lace ups and bought me some danners. Got some high ground 1000 gram thinsulate boots for 25% off on a prechristmas sale online. Saved about $60 on them and so far they are awesome.

I've had the same pair of Lacrosse Burly's with 800g of insulation for about 13 years. No cuts, super comfortable, very warm, and no laces! Once these die I'll get the exact same kind again

Muck boots!!! No problems in 3+ years

Good luck finding that exact boot Phil. Like you, I had a pair for several years... best and warmest rubber boot I'd ever owned. The 800g they sell now isn't the same... went to a 1200g when I purchased again, but it just isn't the same.

I have the Muck Woody Max and used them year round in Central Alabama a couple of seasons ago and now in South Alabama. Plenty of warmth and I don't wear any special socks--just regular thickness knee high cotton socks.

I have had a pair come unglued, but customer service gave me a new pair. Even after coming unglued they didn't leak, but I didn't like the idea of an expensive pair of boots coming apart.

lacrosse burlys 1600 no problems with temp in to the teens.

I have the muck boots and lacrosse burleys in 1200gr and both are warm. Only thing I can say bad about the lacrosse is in two or three years they start to crack where they bend and I have to put some sealent on them. I have one pair of muck boots that the soles have come off and one pair that have been fine.

Next pair I get I'm looking into the lacrosse Aeroheads.

I bought some Bogs this year, my Lacrosse 1500gr boots finally started leaking (after 15-years of heavy use - these were the best boots I have ever owned, I couldn't find them when I was looking). Where I hunt, you HAVE to wear waterproof boots, because unless there is a drought you WILL be walking in some water. Sometimes, we have to wear waders to cross some of the creeks.

The Bogs are more flexible than the Lacrosse, but I don't like them as well. They fit well and are easier to put on and take off because of the flexibility of the boot - but there is something about the fit (perhaps it is flexibility) that I don't care for and I can't put my finger on it.

As for the dependability of the boots - I haven't had them long enough to know. I have heard good things about the Bogs brand, but it is the first pair I have ever owned. I can say that where I hunt it is very tough on rubber boots (a friends brand new Muck boots lasted one day before they were torn and leaking) - briars, water, mud, stomping through clear cuts, and thorn bushes/trees. Couple that with I do a substantial amount of walking during deer and turkey season.

I use to wear LaCrosse Burlys but fought those SOBs getting them on & off. For the last 10 years or so I�ve been wearing the cheapest, tallest rubber boots I can find (usually pay under $20). Buy them 1 size too large & invest in some quality socks. Feet stay toasty warm & dry, plus you don�t cry when they get snagged.

I've got a pair of the Muck Woody Max that I've had for 7 or 8 seasons and I've had zero issues with them. I start wearing them when the temps start dropping into the 30's. Of course like everything else, they may not build them as good as they used to.

hahaha. I agree lacrosse aaerheads but they will break a finger they're tough boots
