All counties have good numbers. Negative ghost rider. Come up for a visit sometime! I'd say 50% of Marshall, Dekalb and Etowah counties have very, very few deer. I hunted with a friend in marshall county one afternoon and saw 13, he saw 8 and killed a decent 8 pt. As I said not all places in all counties have good numbers but somewhere in each county has a bunch of deer. The above mentioned hunt is the only time i have hunted in marshall co, I have never hunted in Dekalb or Etowah counties. I'm gonna guess you were hunting somewhere along the west bank of the TN river, around Union Grove.

Jackson County, no competition either.
I use to have to go their a couple of days a week with my job. The numbers AND size of the deer exceeds the current Blackbelt by a longshot! He's lying to you. Yep, Jackson Co sucks, I won't ever hunt there again

About 14 years ago we hosted a QDMA seminar in Troy for about 3 years. It soon was obvious that kill does, kill does, and kill more does was the common theme of the meetings. Question, "If a mature doe and two fawn does come out in the food plot which one do you shoot." Answer, "All of them."

I was hearing that very same thing at the QDMA meetings I attended. 3000 acres of our lease was a part of the now defunct West Jefferson Public Hunting Area at the time I was hearing that. The state was RESTOCKING deer on that land at that time, and it was bucks only for 3 days per week. Even now, Chris Cook recommends taking only 40 does from the 6400 acres we now have that includes that 3000 acre portion of WJPHA land. I don't agree with Chris, and I still believe that's too many, but I must yield to his opinion since the majority of our members agree with him and our club is on the DMAP program. They are having fun now, but when it gets back to seeing a deer every now and then like it used to be, I'm afraid they won't be so happy.

Montgomery, Bullock and Monroe. I'm very fortunate to get to hunt these counties the past thirty years.

well I can't comment on the rest of the state but the part I live in has more deer now than ever in my lifetime. and yes, I'm in that northern zone.

I've hunted Pike, Crenshaw, Bullock, Covington, Marengo, Greene, Winston, Limestone, Jackson, and Madison. Mostly Jackson and Madison. First off, the people who say Jackson County sucks are out of their minds. But the question is consistency of seeing deer numbers. I think it's hard to say from my experience and I'm biased toward Madison and Jackson. But if I had to pick a place to have a farm right now in Alabama...it would be in the Blackbelt. From the photos and stories I see from Wilcox County, that place appears to be a mecca for wildlife.

I would have to say Lowndes, Dallas, Wilcox, And Montgomery. They Still have some row croppers out there and good thick woods. You can have quality and quantity if managed right.
