I know this has been asked before at some point but what county in Alabama do y'all think is the best county for deer hunting in regards to numbers and consistent activity? I am not talking about quality of bucks, but just knowing I am going to see a lot of deer every time I hunt most likely.

All counties have good numbers.for example: we have 2 pieces of property in perry co. They are about 5 miles apart. One of them we see deer nearly every sitting and have seen as many as 40 from one stand in an afternoon. On the other piece of property we have seen less than 10 deer in an entire season at times. I don't think there is a right answer to your question

This population density map is getting a little old, but the population density trends are still probably pretty close for comparison of one county/area to the other if it's the population you're asking about. Antler quality won't match the map if that's what you're interested in:  The map above matches the current map where doe season is limited:

Jackson County, no competition either.
I use to have to go their a couple of days a week with my job. The numbers AND size of the deer exceeds the current Blackbelt by a longshot!

Doe commander I have to disagree on coosa as county wide. I was in a club where I saw less than 20 deer the entire season. One guy hunted all season and never saw a deer and another saw less than 5. 40 members on 5000 acres and we may have killed 20 deer that year.

The map is over 13 years old. i wonder how its changed over that time? The second map is new and was compiled for use with this year's hunting seasons. Compare the new map to the old one and you'll get an idea of how liberal antlerless seasons affect areas with deer density of less than 15 deer per sq. mile. The old qdm philosophy of killing every doe you see works very effectively and quickly in reducing low density populations. Fully open antlerless seasons aren't very old in those counties on the map with reduced antlerless season this year. It may not be as noticeable in higher density counties, but killing lots of does works very well if you want to see fewer deer. I remember listening to Brain Murphy tell us we couldn't kill too many does at QDMA meetings before I wised up and pulled out. I knew then that Brian didn't grow up in a low density area like I did, or he would know better. Brian was wrong.

I hunted with a friend in marshall county one afternoon and saw 13, he saw 8 and killed a decent 8 pt. As I said not all places in all counties have good numbers but somewhere in each county has a bunch of deer. The above mentioned hunt is the only time i have hunted in marshall co, I have never hunted in Dekalb or Etowah counties.
