For me....

1. Scent-Away spray will remove spilled, disgustingly fragrant milk from your vehicle interior.

2. Nothing in the woods taste better than a 30 lb fawn.

3. It is entirely possible to kill a deaf deer with your bare hands.

I have hunted every weekend this year and many weekday afternoons and I have learned.....


1. You can ,in fact, fall out of your climber 5' off the ground.
2. Always bring toilet paper to the woods,it is not any fun taking off three layers to get to your base layer and use it to wipe.
3. To not let myself forget that deer hunting is fun and a privilege.

Its just deer hunting!

in the end we hope and pray that everyone makes it home safely , and its just deer hunting!

I've learned to never take people for their word. Get references before joining a club.

I've also learned that the word "ethical" means different things to different people.

That our Lord is a marvelous and wonderful Creator!

I've learned, on a serious note, that those moon phase calender thingys that tell you when they are gonna move, is fairly reliable.

do not put a protien shake with a loose top in the same backpack with your game camera

That our very own L. Thompson could, without a doubt, chit in a swinging jug.

That the gps with topo package that I have told my wife many times that I didn't need can be a very valuable tool.

I learned that a posted sign means different things to different people.

I learned that time spent with your kids in the woods WILL matter in 10 years, most other things won't.

I learned that I can sit in a tree for four hours without seeing anything and be happy just to be there.

Learned to watch my step during bow season. The rattlesnake that I killed was almost 5 ft long and less than 3 ft from my leg with no protection on.

And to let the surrounding hunters pressure the deer to me. I have seen more deer this year than ever and it is because I stay scent-free as much as possible and let the neighbors ride carts and everything else thru while i walk in and hardly disturbed anything.

I learned that I've spent more time and money on clothing and gear for myself than I have on minerals or seed for the deer. Maybe, if I spent more time and effort in giving back to the environment, more time in being a good steward of the land than in preparing a plan to take it away, I'd appreciate the privilege of hunting even more. I hope I would.

Patience in not squeezing the trigger does pay off.
My eyes are getting bad out of whack, and I ain't that old.
My wife will still get out of bed to help drag a deer out.
Does still unnerve me when they explode off the ground 20 feet away - and that is still really cool!
Don't let your wife use fabric softener on your hunting clothes - takes 3 washes to get the scent out.

When your going to climb 40ft up a tree make sure that your pull up rope is 45ft long.

Re-learned: that squirrels, chipmunks, and oppossum's make more noise walking around than deer.

Being in a ladder stand with 25 mph winds is poinltess (coupled with the fact that I HATE heights makes it worse)
Where I hunt, when the wind blows hard enough to bend the tree tops, the animals move a whole lot less and are way too skittish.
I hate duck hunting neighbors

That some of our new members are A$$holes with no regards to rules.

What you can do on a shooting bench at the range don't mean chit in the woods, 30 feet up and shooting lefty.

1. That a white antlered deer will appear larger than they really are , please look at them hard before you squeeze the trigger.

2. Hunting with a close friend can be alot of fun when they harvest a deer , had a unbelievable hunt with a buddy.

3. Always,always,always lime you're fields it is a must , you get out of it what you put into it .

4. That God blesses us each and every day with his creation and I'm so thankful that he allows us to enjoy it , the woods are truly beautiful.
