I killed a big rattler last year in January while squirrel hunting. That will make you nervous for sure.

I killed a good one on a bankhead hunt in the last week in Nov two years ago. My brother has it on video somewhere. A good warm spell will usually bring them out.

Seen a huge cottonmouth in the TNF in Dec. several yrs. ago.
Big enough and too close enough that I'll never forget it.
Snakes werent even on the radar.

biggest cotton mouth ive ever killed was last year in december, heard it coming through the leaves up from a dried creek bed. ended up being 48"

I saw a big one in clay county hunting last year. It was 38 outside. That thing moved out like it was July.

I killed on wading a shallow slough while deer hunting in Jan on a COLD day, the snake could hardly move the water was so cold. I eased his pain....
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

We started tree planting yesterday on client lands. A little bit on the warm side but we have plenty of rain coming. Adequate moisture matters the most when planting containerized Longleaf anyways. Tree planters killed 3 diamondbacks on 25 acres. They are out and moving until the next cold front in LA.
