I hunt 400 acres in Grove Hill and cant find a buck to save my life. Hunting hard and they still wont show. My food Plots are small and the does i see in them dont hang around long. we have a swamp that has some sign but never see the bucks. has anyone been seeing the rut start around Grove Hill or in Clarke county?

They are probably on your neighbors place chasing the does that don't get shot during the first part of the season.

I hunt in clarke. The patterns have been weird for a second year in a row. As I left last weekend, it appeared the smaller bucks were beginning to chase. Continue to hunt the does and use that grunt call in the mornings. I've seen very few scrapes and rubs, but they should be showing soon.

I hunt in Marengo county , but about 8 miles from Thomasville. Last Sunday evening I had a four point push a doe around a food plot for about 20 seconds them him and two does and a five point just ate together for the next hour. I am hoping with the cold weather this weekend and everything the bigger bucks get interested. I am going to try and spend as much time as I can in the stand with the full moon and all.

thanks For the Info. thats about the same thing we saw last weekend. we are seeing a few rubs but i believe we have only found one scrape on our land. our land is mostly 6 year old pines except the for the swamp. i plan to go up this weekend and not come home till the 31st. i plan to make some aldays in the stand. like you said the full moon should bring them out with the cold weather. our camers showed the does moving at night last week but no pic of the bucks. when i say no bucks, there not shooter bucks. we have seen small deer like spikes and small 6pt. thanks again for the report.

My son, Seth, hunts in Grove Hill; just out of the city limits off of Hwy 84.

He was just telling me today that he has not seen ANY rut activity on their place. And it is a really good place normally.......

well our place is just north of the city limits off of 43 and we are starting to think we dont have any mature bucks on our place. we know thats not so becuase we saw a few for bow season and see a few on the trail cams. there just ant nothing going on. this is our first year hunting this area and just find it very slow. you talk to some folks that hunt north of thomasville and they say the same thing. our camp site is off of a road heading east out of town and the guys that hunt in that area have shot a good deer over 150". he was not chasing does he was just walking across a pasture. i sure hope it happens before the 31st.

There are a few relly big ones around.......but, they are not easy to kill!!!!!!!!!!!

I went out to one of my fields at 8:30 today as I have not seen anything before 8 in the last month. I just went to scout and low and behold there is a nice young buck at the back of the field. They are coming out A LOT later than normal for the area I hunt. It has been a wierd season for me for sure.

A lot of the bucks are in the back of pick-ups, atv's, and at the processors. Taylor's in Montgomery had trucks backed up around the corner last Saturday night with folks dropping off deer.
