X2 if I can only have one. Since I have more than one my Finnlight is a .308.

If only one my Remington 700 in 338 Win-Mag with a Leupold Vari X 3 in 3x9x40 . It's been a Deer Killer for years with 180 Ballistic Tips but I can go up in bullet weight and handle anything in North America and most anything in the world . It's a flat shooter with the 180's and tack driver . Been a go to gun for 15 years .

I'd take a Ruger MKII 30-06 in stainless / syn because of its integrated base.

For big game, 700 remington made prior to 1986 or so in 270 with a Schmidt and Bender scope, trigger job and synthetic stock. Real similar to one I have now, haha.
For small game a similarly aged remington 41 or 581 bolt action 22.

Well if I could only own one rifle it would probably be a 300 win mag in either a tikka or a sako. Synthetic/stainless with my zeiss diavari 3-12x56 sitting on it.

I'd take a Ruger MKII 30-06 in stainless / syn because of its integrated base. The integral base on the Sako is more better.

I prefer the short action too but if I could have just one caliber to do it all, I would pick a 30-06.

Take your kids hunting instead of hunting your kids.
I'd rather be LOST in the woods than FOUND in the city.

Ar-15. .223. M&p
If it got that serious, deer hunting wouldn't be high on my day to day priority list.
If you are talking deer hunting, 7mm mag. Win model 70 extreme weather
