Things have been a little slow on the catching with all the acorns and corn on the ground. But, we caught 7 this morning.

322 now.

The Fall is a TOUGH time to trap.
I would imagine that it is even harder this year with all the feeders out!!!

That is exactly what I am thinking Danny. But, on that same line of thought, I am guessing Feb 1st in most of the state will become extremely effective. We are going to hit the ground running then and make the most of it until things start to green up. Feb-May should be unreal good this coming year.

Feb is awesome!
They are congregated on food sources and the woods are as 'open' as they will be all year. The hogs, though nocturnal, are more relaxed than they are right now. All the attention has been on the deer and they have been left alone.

Only time I have better luck is late April-early May when the food plots are seeded out and the hogs are piled up stripping the seed heads.

You are so right about the food plots in late April. There is no better time to hit them spot and stalk style. It is almost unfair! LOL

We are branching into Macon County now. Lots of hogs there. We have started trapping a property there and we have picked up access to hunt some properties there just as soon as deer season ends.

It has been tough lately. Will be so glad when the acorns run out.

Well we are running out of days. I have one trap that is being hammered in Bullock County. Had to take the camera down last weekend to work on it. Going to get it back up this Saturday. I hope we can catch that sounder before Tuesday night at midnight.

Well the clock is ticking down and IDOT is holding his breath. I want one more catch so bad, but that location is giving me fits with AT&T signal for some reason and I can't figure it out. I may have to go do it the old fashion way this evening and trip it with a remote. Then again it is NYE!

Anyway, we had a great first year. Looking forward to hitting the road hard Feb 1st and killing alot more in the new year.

Thanks everyone!

Hold on IDOT. I just got an invite from a landowner asking me to come out and shoot pigs on his place tonight. I called the wife and asked it would be okay considering it was NYE. She said only if she can go! LOL Yes, I am lucky in that regards.

Thanks Cletus. It has been a lot of work. But, it has been fun as well. Once again we learned alot this year. We expect to increase that total a ton this year. Actually, I think we can hit the 1,000 number now that we have our trapping equipment available and our thermal optics in hand. We only got a couple of months out of each this year. A full year should properly stocked should be ugly!

Just got in. Killed 6 tonight but only 1 before midnight. Didn't get started until about 10:30. Finished the year at 330! And have 5 in the new year already. Going to have to start a new 2014 thread!
